New Year's Day Nap Of The Meetings Preview

15:10 Cheltenham - Wholestone

Cheltenham hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and the in Grade 2 Dornan Engineering Relkeel Hurdle contest we have selected Wholestone for Nigel Twiston Davies.

This eight year old in his time has produced some stand out performances which has seen him get some nice places in Grade 1 company whilst also landing a few Grade 2 contests.

To start this season the Munir and Souede owned gelding looked to be back to his best straight away winning a Class 2 at Aintree against some good horses. Since then he was poor in his last outing and if putting that behind him at a track he loves he will not be to far away.

14:10 Catterick - Foxtrot Juliet

Catterick hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the Yorkshire track is Foxtrot Juliet in the Mares Novice Hurdle over 1 mile 7 1/2 furlongs.

This Olly Murphy trained front runner has been in some good form bar his fall two starts ago and has gone on to place and win in some decent races.

On this six year olds last outing he finished a good second behind a very useful horse and that form is the pick on show in this race. She is top weight but has a handy five pound claimer on board and won't be to far away tomorrow.

12:40 Exeter - Precious Bounty

Exeter hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the National Hunt track is Precious Bounty in the Novices Hurdle over 2 miles 1/2 furlong.

This five year old for one of this seasons most in form trainers in Phillip Hobbs has the best form claims out of this field and Tuesday could be the day he finally gets of the mark.

He has placed twice in his last four runs and on his last outing he finished a good second behind a decent opponent. He is stepping down and class and should dominate proceedings.

14:40 Fairyhouse - Roaring Bull

Fairyhouse hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the Irish track is Roaring Bull in the Beginners Chase over 2 miles 5 furlongs.

This Gordon Elliott trained six year old seems the most experienced runner in terms of where he has finished in terms of prize money.

This season he has gone on to run three times and finish in the top two twice and going on to win one of them. Jack Kennedy on board is a huge plus and last time out he ran a good second behind a decent type.

14:30 Fakenham - Todd

Fakenham hosts a competitive six race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the jumps track is Todd in the Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles 7 furlongs.

This Olly Murphy trained nine year old last time out got off the mark for the first time in five runs and looked to be back to his best showing a nice turn of foot.

He has gone up in the weights for that run but has a handy seven pounds taken off by a useful claimer and that could mean the difference in this contest.

14:15 Musselburgh - Chica Buena

Musselburgh hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the Scottish track is Foxtrot Juliet in the Class 2 Handicap Hurdle over 1 mile 7 1/2 furlongs.

This Keith Dalgleish trained seven year old is in the form of his career being unbeaten in her last four starts and is seeking his fifth win on the bounce.

Last time out was the most impressive win of the lot at Aintree when taking a Listed Juvenile Hurdle and again she is stepping up again taking on older horses but she is a real talent.

13:45 Southwell - Ornate

Southwell hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the all weather track is Ornate in the Sprint Hurdle over 5 furlongs.

This David Griffiths trained six year old loves racing at this track and last time out 11 days ago finished second over course and distance and although going up a pound he still has a decent chance.

This trainer has a good record when bringing his runners to this track and this is certainly a track where you need horses for courses.

14:20 Tramore - Alpha Des Obeaux

Tramore hosts a competitive seven race card on New Year's day and our selection that we think is the pick of the bunch from the Irish track is Alpha Des Obeaux in theListed Savills Chase over 2 miles 5 1/2 furlongs.

This is one of the best races of the day across the two cards in Ireland and it features a lot of familiar faces that will be heading to the Cheltenham festival this year.

Alpha Des Obeaux has run more frequently than most of the horses in this race this season and we think that will prove the best form on show, Davy Russell booked a plus.
