Navan Sunday Preview - 25/11/2018

12:00 - Defi Bleu

An eight race card at Navan begins with the www.navanracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle, and Defi Bleu - sporting the first colours of Gigginstown, is the selection here.

He was a recent second at Down Royal, behind Noel Meade's Brace Yourself - a son of Galileo, and will relish the step up in trip today.

Won here in a bumper eleven months ago, and likely to be a major player.

12:30 - Gypsy Island

The only horse in this race - the Connolly's RED MILLS Irish EBF Mares Auction Maiden Hurdle with valid credentials on winning, looks to be Peter Fahey's Gypsy Island.

Ran out an easy winner of a Ballinrobe bumper, and will have been well schooled for her hurdles debut.

Smart prospect. Mark Walsh also in good form.

13:00 - Dinons

The feature race in Ireland on Sunday is the Monksfield Novice Hurdle, a Grade 3 contest over 2m4f, and Dinons who is currently a roll, will be hard to pass here.

Currently on a six-timer, he faces his stiffest task yet by conceding weight all-round, but remains the one to beat on both ratings and current form.

Gordon Elliott looks to have another top novice on his hands. Davy Russell rides.

13:30 - Folly Dat

It does not appear to be a strong renewal of the Davis Civil Engineering Handicap Hurdle, so we have picked out an each way selection with Folly Dat.

Good effort over this course and distance two weeks ago, despite erratic jumping. If she can put that right, it will give her an even better chance of making the frame.

Solid place claims.

14:00 - Paloma Blue

Paloma Blue had excuses when last seen in the Champion Novice Hurdle, with a pulled left fore shoe, and now begins his chasing career in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

He looks potentially smart after his novice campaign over hurdles, which included a fourth in the Supreme Novices at the Festival.

Is very ground dependent, but looks to have an ideal surface here.

Key player.

14:30 - Spider Web

The day's big handicap is the Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase over 3 miles, and Spider Web can land the spoils for Thomas Mullins here.

Further improvement seems to be on the cards following Munster National win, beating Na Trachtalai Abu who lines up again here. Corrected errors in the jumping department having fallen at Galway the time before, and looks to be in the firing line once more.

Major contender.

15:00 - Rain In Spain

Rain In Spain looks a really progressive mare - especially having won four of her last seven races.

She lines up as the only mare in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle field, and the booking of jockey Rachael Blackmore also catches the eye.

Can continue good form with another good run.

15:30 - Yukon Lil

The Coolmore N.H Sires Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race completes the day at Navan - a listed contest over 2m, and Yukon Lil may just edge this one.

Quickened well on similar ground off a good pace at Gowran, and is sure to be thereabouts. Seems to be much more reliable than stable companion Queens Boulevard, who flopped on her most recent run - also at Gowran.

Lots of potential in here, and will be a fascinating watch.
