🇦🇪 Meydan Thursday Preview - 02/12/21

Our first selections at Meydan on Thursday come in the 15:30.

This 2-y-o event is a rematch for plenty of these who met here a couple of weeks back and unless one of the newcomers are above average it is likely to between those rivals.

Mr. Kafoo, who finished fourth in that race, looks fairly priced at 6/1.

This 2-y-o colt was backed into 9/4 that day however he blew the start before making an eye-catching move around the field.

If he stays the extra furlong today he should go close.

At a bigger price of 11/1, we aren’t ruling out a big run from Made In Dubai.

This son of More Than Ready boasts a pedigree that suggests today’s extra furlong will suit and he may have paid the price for chasing the early pace from the widest stall here on debut.

That was his first run so he is open to any amount of improvement and connections will be hoping the application of the first time visor also aids his cause.

Ghadayer’s colt is much better drawn in 2 today and there are four places on offer.

This looks between the two Prince Sultan owned pair with Hero D’oro earning a tentative vote having already had a run in the UAE.

Boasting a smart US pedigree, this colt cost a whopping $1,200,000, and he performed with credit on what was his second start for Chad Brown before being sent over here to Doug Watson.

The seven-time UAE Champion trainer often improves these horses so it would be no surprise to see him continue progression and he caught the eye travelling well before fading over 10f here a couple of weeks back.

Dropped back to 1m with that experience and fitness banked he should go well from stall 1.

Another interesting recruit for the Doug Watson team is Dublin Pharaoh.

Formerly in the UK with Roger Varian, this 4-y-o boasts a smart US pedigree, therefore he is likely to appreciate this test, and the yard certainly know how to ready one after a break.

He has a wide draw in 8 but this 1m3f trip allows for that and this looks a drop in grade from what the two races he competed in here for his old stable - though both of them efforts did come on the turf course.

Remorse is likely to prove popular here with him currently boasting an unbeaten record on the Meydan dirt, however he is short enough at 6/4, therefore we are happy to oppose with Plus Que Parfait.

This 5-y-o has been off the track for a while but he landed the UAE Derby on his sole visit here when representing Brendan Walsh for the US and if he can get close to that level of form he will take plenty of beating.

Admittedly, he has something to prove for a new yard after a long time off the track, but he has the form in the book to win this and he is advertised at 7/2.

Next up is the feature race, a listed event over 1m, and we are siding with former John Gosden inmate Tenbury Wells.

Fetching a whopping $1.2m, this US-bred gelding is bred to appreciate this surface, and he caught the eye with a second over C&D on his UAE debut here on November 12th.

That effort should sharpen him up for this and today’s draw has been much kinder to him.

It is a completive race, probably stronger than his last, however he is still improving as a 4-y-o and he is unexposed on dirt.
