Lingfield Saturday Preview - 17/11/2018

11:55 - Molten Lava

The opening race at Lingfield is the Like Sun Racing On Facebook Handicap, and Molten Lava can take the curtain raiser.

He snapped a 3-year losing run at Chelmsford last month, before finishing second there latest. He now needs to transfer that performance to a different track (Lingfield), but despite being 6yo, appears to have turned over a new leaf.

Player.

12:25 - Barys

Next up is Division I of the EBF Novices Stakes, and the headgear has now been added to Barys.

This 2yo has been a below-par favourite on his last two outings, and Archie Watson has now decided to act. He is a leading player on the peak of his form, and hopefully James Doyle can be the man onboard to put things right.

13:00 - Humanitarian

Humanitarian can take Divison II of the EBF Novice Stakes for John Gosden, and Robert Havlin.

He was a promising second of 18 in a 1m maiden at Newmarket, and looks likely to progress, now switching to a slower all-weather surface.

Winner of his debut run has since finished sixth in a Group 1 at Doncaster, behind a leading 2000 Guineas fancy.

13:25 Original Choice

Original Choice has some strong handicap form in the book this year, as he goes for the Sun Racing Handicap, over a mile.

He's not been at his best recently, but could bounce back now in cheekpieces. The pick of his form came in two good runs at Glorious Goodwood.

The Doyler aboard once more.

14:10 - Side Effect

Next up is an Auction Maiden Stakes race over 6 furlongs, and our selection is Side Effect.

She led for a long way when finishing second at Chelmsford ten days ago over seven, and I think a drop to six will suit her, as she began to tire in the final 100 yards.

Still a good performance, and a win cannot be too far away.

Respected.

14:45 - Addeybb

The Betway Churchill Stakes is the first of two listed events at Lingfield on Saturday, and Addeybb is the standout participant on ratings.

He showed some smart 1m form on turf back in the spring when stepping up from handicaps to group level, but since then, he has fallen apart in the Lockinge before a long lay-off before not playing a part in the QEII on Champions Day.

Leading player if back on song and handling the AW for the first time.

15:15 - Corinthia Knight

The second Listed feature at Lingfield on Saturday is the Betway Golden Rose Stakes, a fast-track qualifier over 6 furlongs.

Corinthia Knight is the pick of the bunch, and has a superb strike rate on the All-weather. He is two from two at this venue, and demands respect.

Not been at his best on the turf recently, but a return to the winners enclosure beckons soon.

Archie Watson trains, Hollie Doyle rides.

15:45 - Cat Royale

The eight-race card at Lingfield closes with the Betway Handicap, and Cat Royale arrives here in really good form.

He is a previous course winner back in September, and is a big player if he stays now significantly back up in trip.

Consistent runner, and has only finished worse than fourth once in last eight starts - all in double figure fields.
