Point Gellibrand

T: Joseph Patrick O'Brien

Weight: 9-8
Days: 224

Point Gellibrand, looks to have a good chance in the opener for trainer Joseph O'Brien - who at time of writing is operating at a 25% strike rate.

The colt is a son of Camelot and a half brother to dual group winner at 1m2f, Pretty Tiger. He only ran twice at 2, both over 7f which on pedigree is inadequate, so he should improve for the extra furlong today.

He was a good second on debut to the promising, unbeaten, Atomic Jones who won the G2 Champion Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown over a mile.

Point Gellibrand just failed to get up and finished a short head second. With the form franked on debut, it's best to put a line through his run next time out, on soft ground in the G2 Futurity Stakes (7F) at the Curragh though he did plug on, he never looked dangerous.

He looks a high class, well bred colt who's ran to a good level in only two runs. On good ground with this step up in trip, for a trainer in form, he looks a massive player in the opener.

Dr Zempf

J: Colin Keane
T: G M Lyons
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 111
Days: 189

He has the best 2yo form in the book here, having mixed it at the top level on multiple occasions last season.

Dr Zempf has arguably been unlucky on a few occasions too, having been caught waiting for room at the business end of the race. He is the highest rated in the field, and looks full of pace.

He's a classy individual with a good pedigree and his rivals will have to improve a good bit to get near his level of form. If Dr Zempf handles this extra furlong, he should be very hard to beat.

Another for the bang in form Joseph O'Brien, Agartha looks to have a massive chance at some generous odds. She was aggressively campaigned last year, running 8 times and winning only twice.

She has ran very consistently though, having only been out of the first three once, on heavy ground on her last run of a long season over a mile at Longchamp in a G1 on Arc day.

Prior to that, she ran to a mark of 109, in the Moyglare (G1) finishing less than a length second to the very promising Discoveries, with the pair pulling a few lengths clear of the field.

She is up against the very useful Sacred Bridge (4/5 including a G3), but she could prove massive value against the favourite, with the stable in flying form and boasting good 2yo form of her own.

The disparity in the market is hardly justified and she should out run her odds.

Chris Hayes

Duke De Sessa

J: Chris Hayes
T: D K Weld
Age: 3
Weight: 9-8
OR: 106
Days: 161

Duke De Sessa should be ultra competitive at a nice enough price here for Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes.

He ran out a winner of a 1m1f G3 when last seen at Leopardstown, when racing very wide and finishing with a real rattle. He looked to relish the trip there and his stamina for this (1m2) looks to be more assured than most.

Prior to that impressive victory, he raced at 7f in the National Stakes (G1) against top quality rivals, seemingly fundamentally out sped.

With the step up in trip more than likely to suit, and being a course winner, he looks to have really good claims here in a race where there are a few question marks surrounding those at the top of the market.

He is a very safe alternative and is definitely worth a bet at the prices.
