York kicks us off on ITV Racing this Saturday with the Group Three John Smith's Silver Cup Stakes just under 1 mile 6 furlongs and Moonlight Spirit for the inform Charlie Appleby looks to have a huge chance.

The four year old son of Dubawi has shown some classy form throughout his career with his best form coming over in France where he has landed a Group Three and after that went close again in a Group Two.

He had his seasonal debut at Royal Ascot in the Gold Cup where he was outclassed and did not stay the trip but now back to a more familiar distance he can bounce back.

The Listed Rose Bowl Stakes sees some very smart newcomers take to post and Method at the top of the market could turn out to be a star.

The Martyn Meade trained colt is a son of new sire Mehmas and on debut showed plenty of ability to land a six furlong event at Doncaster.

Oisin Murphy is booked to ride on Saturday and if he improves for the run which he should do he could give another classy performance.

The big fielded John Smith's Handicap Cup comes next and over the years this race has thrown out some decent winners and we believe it will do so again.

Caradoc for trainer Ed Walker looks to have a huge chance, entering the event off a very handy mark but he will need to improve for his only run this year.

Having been off since November he went to Epsom on Derby day and finished sixth of 13 in a Class Two handicap and racing off the same mark and being fitter for the run, he could go close.

On a day that is full of handicaps on ITV, Newbury's next event is the Premier Fillies Class 2 Handicap over a mile and Huboor for Mark Johnston takes the eye.

The three year old filly was a bright juvenile racing three times, managing to win two of them and placing in another, with all those runs coming over six furlongs.

This season she has been stepped up in trip, needing the run at Lingfield on debut when looking prominent and last time out at Ascot just getting outclassed.

This race is much weaker than that event and she should be able to give a career best run.

The Aphrodite Fillies Stakes over the years has highlighted some nice runners that have gone on to do well in the Autumn and Lady G for William Haggas could follow the same route.

The three year old filly will be ridden by leading female jockey who managed to land her first Group success last week at Newmarket.

Lady G has only had two starts to date, finishing fourth on her debut as a juvenile and then improving from that on her first run this year to finish third.

Again, connections are hoping she can be a highly progressive animal, having an outstanding pedigree and costing a fair bit of money.

The final selection from us at York comes in another strongly contested handicap and Prejudice for David Simcock should out run his odds.

Jamie Spencer is back in the saddle which is a huge positive and having ran to a decent standard at Kempton on his seasonal return he should go better back on turf.

That was his first run for 11 months and if back in the right frame of mind the gelding is a nice each way selection.
