ITV Saturday Preview - Redcar, Ascot and Newmarket

13:40 NEWMARKET British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 1m2f ITV4.

The Class 2 Premier Fillies Handicap sees a fair field of runners go to post and the filly we fancy is the Richard Fahey trained Eva Maria.

This three year old has been super consistent this season not finishing outside the top three on all four of her runs and going on to win two of those contests.

She has won on good to soft ground meaning she should handle the conditions on Saturday and her win at Ayr last time out sets the standard here.

14:00 ASCOT UK Hi-Fi Show Live Rous Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f ITV4.

There is one pick in the Listed Rous Stakes over five furlongs with these soft conditions playing a huge part for who we have selected.

Michael Dods Dakota Gold has been one of the most consistent sprinters of the season coming through the handicap ranks all season winning three out of three on the turf.

He then stepped up to a Listed contest at York and again flattened the field in smart style, this lead him to Newbury in a Group Three where he was a valiant second.

Back down in class today and with conditions to suit winning on soft before makes him the one to beat.

14:15 NEWMARKET £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes Cl2 (2yo) 6f ITV4.

The October Auction Stakes sees 30 runners go to post in this Class 2 Handicap with the race winner picking up over £81,000 and with that in mind we have two fancies for the contest.

The first is the strong favourite trained by James Tate with Under The Stars who has ran to a good standard in much better races than this but there is just a question of whether he will handle the soft ground.

Last time out he finished a good fourth in the Group Two Rockfel Stakes over seven furlongs at the track and the drop back to six furlongs will help massively making him a big player.

Our each way selection for the big fielded event is Keep Busy for trainer John Quinn and this filly enters the frame off the back of her second at Chester last time out on soft ground.

She will revel in the conditions with her two best finishes coming on a tough, slow surface.

14:35 ASCOT Property Raceday Targets £3M Cumberland Lodge Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4f ITV4.

Another lover of soft ground is Andrew Balding's Morando who goes for us in the Cumberland Lodge stakes and this Group Three is a big chance for the gelding to get back to form.

The six year old is a dual Group Three winner that adores cut in the ground and at Ascot on Saturday that is exactly what he will get.

On his seasonal debut he hosed up at Chester in the Group Three Diamond Ormonde Stakes beating some smart horses, with that he got back on soft last time out and was a bright second at Newbury which sets the form standard here.

14:55 REDCAR Redcar Two Year Old Trophy (Listed Race) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV4.

The only race from Redcar that features in the ITV Racing show is a decent Listed event for two year olds and we have gone for one of the outsiders in Glasvegas.

This Keith Dalgleish trained colt has a big strength of taking to soft ground which many in the field are unproven on, with both his runs on wet ground seeing him perform to his best.

He won nicely last time out at Hamilton in a Class 4 on slow ground but his best piece of form was when placing at Royal Ascot in the Listed Windsor Castle and if getting back to that form should be in the mix.

15:10 ASCOT bet365 Challenge Cup (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 7f ITV4.

The Class 2 Challenge Cup over seven furlongs brings an experienced field of handicappers to the forefront with many winning this season over this distance.

The David Barron trained Kynren is one of these horses that has an exceptional record in these types of races between seven furlongs to a mile.

He has placed in every race this season with proven form at this track and on soft ground and with the five year old still being on a fair mark it makes him an interesting contender.

15:25 NEWMARKET Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV4.

The feature race of the day is the Group One Sun Chariot Stakes over a mile and this race shows off some of the best fillies over this distance in the world.

We have sided with Aidan O'Brien's Hermosa, the three year old started the season brightly winning on her seasonal debut in the 1000 Guineas over course and distance and then she landed the Irish equivalent at the Curragh.

She was touched off in second to shock French raider Watch Me losing her unbeaten record for the season last time out at Royal Ascot.

She was stepped up to 1 mile 2 furlongs in the Nassau Stakes where something was a miss and finished last of the pack and again she wasn't at he best in the Matron Stakes.

Hermosa finished second that day behind Iridessa and to go close here she will have to reverse that form but looks one of the more likely winners having previously won on soft.

15:40 ASCOT John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 6f ITV4.

One of the trickiest races on the card at Ascot on Saturday is the Group Three Bengough Stakes over six furlongs and we have gone for the Roger Varian trained Cape Byron.

This course and distance winner hacked up at the royal meeting looking like a Group horse in a handicap when taking the Wokingham.

He went straight into a Group one and was heavily outclassed with the contest maybe coming to soon, he then faired much better in the Group Two City Of York Stakes finishing a big third in a tough field.

Now down to a Group Three in what looks a much easier contest it gives him a big chance to get back to winning ways with the soft conditions being fine having won on this surface as a three year old.
