ITV Racing Saturday Preview - 27/06/20

The first race on ITV Racing is the Group Three Chipchase Stakes over six furlongs and Dream Shot for James Tate at a huge price looks to have a good each way chance.

The three year old was decent as a juvenile, winning at Goodowod on debut and then going on to place in some nice events including the Group Two Flying Childers at Doncaster.

He made his reappearance this season over course and distance at Newcastle and finished a bright third in the Group Three Pavilion Stakes, he was dropped to five furlongs for his second start at Sandown and again finished third.

That form has worked out very well with the second running a big race in a five furlong handicap at Royal Ascot and now stepping back up to his preferred distance he has a chance.

One of our best bets on the ITV Racing broadcast is Boccaccio in the Class 2 Handicap over seven furlongs and this son of Dubawi looks a class act.

He was waited on patiently as a two year old, costing 850,000gns as a yearling and going on to race twice in Novice events and winning them both easily.

He steps up for his handicap debut on Saturday but if improving on what he did last season and justifying his pedigree, the Charlie Appleby trained colt should be head and shoulders above this field.

Another sprint event at Newcastle that normally proves tricky for the punter is the Gosforth Park Cup Handicap over five furlongs and El Hombre for Keith Dalgleish should go well.

The six year old gelding has given his best runs at six furlongs but if getting a fast pace from the outset in this race it could compensate for the drop in trip.

He is a course and distance winner that enjoys racing on Tapeta, doing his best work at this track and Wolverhampton and he looks an interesting angle.

The Group Three Criterion Stakes at Newmarket sees a classy field of familiar faces take to post and Turjomaan for the inform Roger Varian should out run his odds.

The four year old was very smart in his earliest years landing both his races as a two year old and then going well again a three year old when landing a hat-trick at Newcastle and finishing a bright second in a Group Three at Goodwood.

He made his first start this season in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes where he was totally outclassed but now back in a more realistic race he should go much better.

The Group Three Fillies' Stakes unlike the first meeting at Newcastle has not seen many entries for the contest and that leaves Aloe Vera at the top of the market very likeable.

The Ralph Beckett trained filly is very lightly raced for her age on being on a racecourse twice in her life and scoring on both occassions.

She started her career in May last season at Chepstow and won a 16 runner event nicely, she then headed to Goodwood and gave a similar performance this time in Listed company.

Although she is having her first start of the season, any run resembling her past form should see her sweep the field here.

The Fairway Listed Stakes over 1 mile 2 furlongs is another small fielded affair and Man Of The Night for Richard Hannon takes the eye.

The three year old colt had a modest juvenile career winning on debut but never being able to replicate that agin but still placing in a Conditions contest.

On his seasonal reappearance this term he finished a credible third in a decent handicap contest at Newbury and he looks sure to improve from that run.

The feature race of the day in England is the Northumberland Plate Handicap over the marathon two miles trip and we are siding with the in form Alan King with Rainbow Dreamer.

The seven year old has been a model of consistency during his career winning five of his last nine contests and also placing in another.

Since the turn of the year the gelding has scored three times over two miles on the all weather and last time out finished a decent fourth in the Group Three Sagaro Stakes.

He faded late on but will be better for that run on Saturday and Alan King heads into the race off the back of a superb Royal Ascot that saw him have three winners from five runners.
