ITV Racing Preview, Newmarket, Goodwood & Thirsk 04/05/24

ITV Racing are live for the first Classic of the 2024 season at Newmarket with 2000 Guineas Day taking place at Newmarket. We've gone through all the live races and picked out our selections.

William Hill Extra Place Races Handicap (1.45) - Aberama Gold

Gave us a great run for our money over course and distance 2 weeks ago to be 3rd behind Dark Thirty in a similar event to this.

The handicapper has left him unchanged and Dark Thirty didn't hurt the form on Friday to be 3rd at Newmarket again.

William Hill Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes (2.05) Choisya

Took major strides forward last season to go from low level handicaps, beating Novus, to going close in a listed race on reappearance for this campaign last month.

William Hill Suffolk Stakes (2.20) - Theoryofeverything

Posted some mixed form last season as it looked like connections were failing to nail down an ideal trip for this 4 year old, tried over 7 furlongs to 10 furlongs he failed to follow up his debut success.

Vickers.Bet Thirsk Hunt Cup Handicap (2.40) - Thunder Roar

A soft ground merchant who's been highly consistent in his runs of late, not finishing outside of the top 3 on his last six outings.

Most recently seen at Leicester over a mile on soft ground, he was well backed into favourite off the back of a good run in the Spring Mile but couldn't close fast enough. Remains unchanged in the weights for that effort and still looks dangerously well handicapped.

William Hill Palace House Stakes (2.55) - Vadream

The winner of this contest last year, Vadream looks a big price at 8/1 to repeat his victory here 12 months on.

A recent reappearance to be 3rd in listed company shook away the cobwebs and the form looked strong with the winner Adaay In Devon going close in a Group Three recently.

QIPCO 2000 Guineas Stakes (3.35) - Alyanaabi

A talented enough looking juvenile last season who scored on debut before finding no luck in running at Royal Ascot to be 4th.

Confirmed the promise he showed when winning a Group Three event here at Newmarket before finding only City Of Troy too good in the Dewhurst Stakes.
