Wodhooh sets a strong standard at the top of the market but there’s not much juice in her price now and she looked vulnerable when scrambling home by a neck last time out.

She might be susceptible to the improving and well versed Max Of Stars who’s already chalked up four successes over hurdles. Defying a mark of 108 to beat her elders easily on her penultimate start, she then took yet another step forward to win at Market Ramen when last seen.

The form of that has worked out well and she’s taken to push the favourite at a decent each way price.

Hermes Allen represents a clear bit of class being a Grade One winner over hurdles at this course but it’s hard to ignore the rapid improving Nickel Back. Sarah Humphrey’s gelding didn’t amount to much over hurdles but has been a revelation over fences.

Debuting at Warwick with a lethal front running performance, he then put another field to the sword at Stratford from another bold front running display.

He’s match fit and looks a real prospect over fences, he steps up majorly in grade but will go out and make this a real test.

Team Nicholls hit two stride last weekend at Ascot and continue their hot form here with the smart looking Kandoo Kid. An ok novice over hurdles, he’s stepped up to fences this season and has run well on both outings so far.

Bumping into the talented Nickel Back on chase debut, he couldn’t live with that rival who’s contesting graded honours now earlier on the card and went close again in a handicap when last seen. He pulled well clear with another rival who just got up by a neck. The 3rd has since won, so the form looks to have some substance and a mark of 129 looks beatable.

Will likely be well backed if Nickel Back goes well in the John Francome.

This 3 mile contest is trickier than it appears. Marie’s Rock heads the betting at odds on despite the fact she’s yet to win over 3 miles and is returning off a 230 day absence. Paisley Park is in the twilight of his glittering career and Flight Deck looks to be a handicapper.

Therefore the match fit and ever enthusiastic Dashel Drasher could be the play here. He just failed to fend off Maries Rock at Cheltenham last season over 2.5 miles, not having the pace to keep her at bay, but over this longer trip might just be able to up the ante from the front to take the sting out of her turn of foot.

Although 10 years old now he’s been in fine fettle recently and his return run at Wetherby should have him spot on for this.

Although finishing 2nd in a novice Grade One over hurdles at the end of the 21/22 season, Gentleman At Arms failed to really kick on for that big run and showed very little all of last season.

However the 6 year old seemed to take a major step forward when scoring in a 3 mile handicap event at Aintree two weeks ago getting back to winning ways in impressive fashion.

If turning a corner now as a hurdler, he can continue his progression over timber and start to realise some of the promise he showed as a novice. A 5lbs rise has likely not got to the bottom of him and he can have a say again off 129.
