Haydock Saturday Preview - 27/04/19

13:30 - Apparate

The first race of the day at Haydock Park sees a hot Class 3 Handicap and we have gone for the Roger Varian trained Apparate to get us off to a nice start.

This three year old colt has only had one run to date and that came at Newbury in a 15 runner Class 4 and he went on to show a lot of promise finishing a good second.

The yard obviously think high of him with the animal holding entries for the Dante and the Epsom Derby, could be a real bright spark and is one to watch out for.

14:05 - Great Prospector

The next race of the day is the Old Boston Handicap over seven furlongs and we have gone for the Richard Fahey trained Great Prospector to go well.

This four year old is set up at a nice price but holds a lot of potential from his two year old days and finding anything like that form will be in the mix.

His best run recently was four starts ago at Redcar in a Listed contest and he finished a good third of 11 and that is a perfect standard to aim at.

14:40 - Onebaba

The third contest of the day is a Class 5 Handicap over a mile and we have gone for the Michael Bell trained Onebaba to land the spoils.

This three year old Gelding finished a close third last time out over seven furlongs and he gave the impression that day that the extra furlong will suit.

He is making his Handicap debut on Saturday which is another factor that could bring the best out of him, huge plus having James Doyle on board aswell.

15:15 - Fabulist

Another Class 5 over a mile but this time for Novices sees plenty of young horses go to post and we have gone for the John Gosden trained Fabulist.

This three year old filly has only made two starts in her career and she has shown plenty of potential to make us feel like today is her day.

She holds an Oaks entry and finished a good third last time out when stepped up to 1 mile 2f. Now back down to a mile she should be able to dominate.

16:20 - Sands Chorus

Sands Chorus for trainer Scott Dixon is out next selection in the Class 4 Handicap and this seven year old looks to have a real chance in this one.

He finished a smart third on his second run of the season after needing the outing to be fresh on his first run.

That third came at Newbury in a Class 3 with 18 runners, now dropping down in Class over the same distance he enters calculations.

16:50 - Escobar

The penultimate race on the Haydock card sees the Class 2 Edge Green Handicap over 1 mile and we have gone with the David O'Meara trained Escobar.

This horse has been frustrating to follow but holds a lot of potentially and has to come good eventually.

He has placed in some nice events recently and also carries some decent course and distance form that will be very handy in a hot race like this.

17:25 - Gamesters Icon

The last race of the day and the Gamers Icon for trainer Oliver Greenall looks to have a great chance in this Class 5 contest.

This four year old filly is having her first run for this new yard and hopefully it can bring so more out of the horse after some disappointing runs recently.

She is now down to a really handy mark and if she is going to give her best this is going to be the stage to do it on.
