The first event of the evening is the Class 5 Amateur Jockeys Handicap over 1m 3 1/2f and Dance King for Tim Easterby takes the eye.

The 11 year old is a veteran in the sport and over the years has revelled in these sort of these events on soft ground and now on a lowly mark he could have one last performance in him.

Of late he has been back to form, finishing second two starts ago at Nottingham over 10f on soft ground and he backed that up last time out at Doncaster in the same conditions but over 12f.

He is a proven stayer and racing off the same mark of 66 as his last two runs makes him a player once more.

The second race of the day at Haydock is the Fillies' Novice Stakes over 1m 3 1/2f and the exciting Eileendover makes her debut on the flat.

The four year old has been seen four times on the level but in national hunt bumpers during her career to date and has landed three wins and fair fourth when up in class.

She made her debut at Huntingdon in November where she went on to bolt up by 29 lengths on good ground.

The daughter of Canford Cliffs was then sent to Wetherby in December, this time on soft ground and she handled it just aswell to score by another wide margin 16 lengths.

In January her handler decided to step her up into Listed company at Market Rasen in heavy ground and she again trounced a field by close to seven lengths.

What was taking about this performance is that the third has since landed a Grade Two bumper and the fourth has since won a Listed event over hurdles.

She skipped the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham festival in favour of heading to Aintree in April for the Grade Two Mares' Bumper and finished a decent fourth.

The form of that race has since been franked with the first since getting off the mark on the flat and with plan always being to get her going in this sphere, she is one to watch.

The seven furlongs Novice Stakes sees a smart field of juveniles head to post and the horses that we fancy is the Richard Fahey trained Neat And Dandy.

The two year old son of Dandy Man cost £35,000 as a yearling and has been seen once to date, running well earlier in May at Ripon.

The colt finished a decent third of seven on soft ground and getting an extra furlong today and having already had a run are two things going in his favour.

Next up is the Class 4 Fillies' Handicap over seven furlongs and the William Haggas trained Conservatoire looks the most likely filly to land the event in our eyes.

The three year old was seen five times as a juvenile and she gave her best runs on heavy ground when winning on both occasions at Goodwood and Doncaster over Seven furlongs.

The Cheveley Park Owned filly has been seen once this year and she finished a fair fifth of 10 at Ascot in a good Fillies' Handicap, slightly needing the run on her return.

She is sure to come on for that run and having showed she handles these conditions she looks a bet in this race.

The penultimate event of the afternoon is the Class 5 Handicap over six furlongs and the most interesting runner is Society Queen.

The Richard Fahey trained mare heads back to six furlongs having been found out over both five furlongs and seven furlongs recently.

Three starts ago on soft ground at Pontefract over 6f she was seen winning an extremely similar event off a mark of 60 and now only 2lb higher she looks a to have a big chance.

The final selection of the day from us comes in the 1m2f Class 4 Handicap and Chalk Stream for William Haggas and the Queen looks the most likely winner.

The three year old gelding has been seen four times to date and has ran respectably in most of them, getting off the mark last time out in taking fashion.

Chalk Stream is a well bred son of Sea The Stars, who last time out was stepped up to 10f and won well at Leicester in good to soft ground.

If handling even softer conditions in this race he looks progressive enough to handle the penalty.
