The first event of the afternoon on day three of Glorious Goodwood is the Class 2 Handicap over 1m 1 1/2f and we have two selections that are interesting.

The first is the Sir Michael Stoute trained Migdam who has been highly impressive of late and looks to be still progressing and should go close off his mark of 95.

Needing his debut in August last year, he then went to Kempton over a mile and got off the mark in decisive fashion.

Backing that up in late September over the same course and distance, he was another impressive winner this time under a penalty.

Making his seasonal reappearance this term, stepping up to 10f he landed a hat-trick of wins at Doncaster on handicap debut and he looks to have more in the tank.

Age: 3
Weight: 9-0
OR: 93
Days: 42

At a bigger price and at more of an each way play in the race is the Charlie Hills trained Wanees who has been a favourite of ours and now up in trip could outrun his odds.

Wanees has been seen five times for his trainer during his career, making his debut in August last year when sixth of 14 at Newbury in a decent Maiden, but then in September at Ascot over seven furlongs got off the mark beating a subsequent Group Three winner.

Wanees finished last season by making it back to back wins at Salisbury over seven furlongs in a novice stakes giving weight away.

Seen twice this season he bought up the hat-trick in the Esher Cup Handicap at Sandown when seen at a mile for the first time and then last time out off a mark of 91 was a valiant sixth of 30 runners at Royal Ascot in the Britannia Stakes.

Up to a mark of 93 and up in trip his pedigree suggests he will get the trip and looks interesting at 9/1.

Royal Scotsman

T: Paul & Oliver Cole
N/A
Age: 2
Weight: 9-2
OR: 107
Days: 44

One of our best bets of the day comes in the Group Two Richmond Stakes over six furlongs and Royal Scotsman for Paul & Oliver Cole looks very tough to beat.

The 125,000gns son of Gleneagles has been seen three times to date, making his debut at Ascot over 5f when a good fourth behind the likes of Noble Style and Walbank.

Over course and distance next time out he got off the mark in impressive style landing a Novice Stakes by five lengths and the second and third have since gone on to frank the form.

Stepping up into the Group Two Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot when last seen and finishing a superb third of 17 behind the likes of Bradsell and Persian Force, he offers some serious form and could be very tough to beat.

Persian Force has since landed a Group Two and the fourth Blackbeard for the same connections has done the same in France.

Big player.

Hoo Ya Mal

Age: 3
Weight: 9-3

Days: 54

Another nice event of the card is the Group Three John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes over 1m4f and the Derby second Hoo Ya Mal looks overpriced at 4/1.

A 150/1 shot for Andrew Balding in the 2022 Derby, he ran an absolute cracker to finish just behind Desert Crown and in front of Irish Derby winner Westover.

The three year old is now with George Boughey having been bought by Go Bloodstock & Partners for £1.2 million and the the St Leger is the big target.

However, having been kept fresh for this and obviously having stamina in abundance, he holds the leading form in the racer and at 4/1 is the value against the favourite.

The Group One Nassau Stakes looks to be a cracker this season and we think this year's renewal is going to be won by the John & Thady Gosden trained Nashwa.

Making her debut as a juvenile over seven furlongs at Newmarket she finished a fair third in a fillies' Novice Stakes and was put away for this season.

Sent to Haydock for her seasonal debut this term she bolted up by close to six lengths, really putting her name on the map and then next time out she backed that up at Newbury in a Listed Fillies' event over 10f.

All roads lead to the Oaks at Epsom and running a cracker again she finished a superb third behind Tuesday and stablemate Emily Upjohn.

Tackling the French Oaks back at her preferred trip of 1m2f last time out she showed pace and stamina to take the 17 runner Group One and having been well backed over the last month or so for this race, she should take the beating.

True Statesman

T: Charlie & Mark Johnston
N/A
Age: 2
Weight: 9-9
OR: 91
Days: 20

Next up is the Class 2 Nursery Handicap over seven furlongs and True Statesman for Charlie & Mark Johnston could still be very well handicapped.

Seen four times to date the son of Churchill needed his first two starts at Nottingham and Doncaster over 5f, finding the trip a bit sharp.

Moved up to six furlongs he got off the mark in very taking style at Chelmsford and then last time out at Chester over 7f, he was an impressive winner once more on handicap debut.

Up 8lb to a mark of 91 the trainer does well at this meeting and should have more to offer.

Get Ahead

J: Adam Kirby
T: Clive Cox
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-9
OR: 91
Days: 19

The final event we are covering in this day three preview is the Class 3 World Pool Handicap over 5f and with a decent sized field going to post we have dutched the race.

The first selection is the Clive Cox trained Get Ahead, who was seen twice as a juvenile last term both times at Ascot over five furlongs, she made a winning start in a decent Maiden and was the sent into the royal meeting where she was sixth in the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes.

Not seen again as a juvenile, she returned in March this term at Kempton over 6f maybe just needing the run finishing back in third and she went to Bath in a decent Listed event and again finished a good third.

Making it a hat-trick of places in a Listed event at York, she was last seen in the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown when a close up fourth.

Running well in defeat all year, last time out she was 11th of 20 in a 5f Handicap at Ascot, getting checked and put off balance and never recovering.

Down 2lb for that she could be on her perfect mark.

Navello

J: William Buick
T: George Boughey
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-9
OR: 91
Days: 12

At a slightly bigger price is the George Boughey trained Navello who has been ran frequently already this season like many of this handlers horses, but of late has shown glimpses of big potential.

Three starts ago he got off the mark for the season at Chester off a mark of 89 when winning a trappy little for runner event and then off the back of that was a fair fifth in a race that wasn't ran to suit at Newmarket.

Back at the scene of his latest win last time out at Chester he was forced wide and again unlucky in running but flew home late into sixth.

Down to a mark of 91 only 2lb higher than his latest win, he could go well at an each way price.
