This blog will look at the Friday night racing meeting at Chelmsford that will be taking place under the floodlights on the evening. This page will be going through our favourite selections explaining why we have chose these horses and why we fancy them to go on and perform well tonight.

Newcastle

17:45 - Duration 15/8 Win

The first race we are previewing tonight at Newcastle is the Capital Allowance Handicap over 2 miles. This Class 6 race will show off a lot of three year olds that are still looking to make there name in racing. The horse that takes the eye in this race is the favourite Duration for in form trainer Andrew balding. This horse has had a very topsy turvy debut season but looks the pick to get off the mark tonight. His last four runs have been nothing to shout about as he hasn’t really got in the frame but stepping up in trip today may see the best of him during his career and he has been moving in the market all day.

18:15 - Impromptu 4/1 Win

The next race at Newcastle that we have a fancy in is the Alison and Richard Rogerson Anniversary Fillies’ Handicap over 1 mile 4 furlongs. This Class 4 Handicap is for three years old and over but only for female horses. The Roger Varian trained Impromptu has been near the frame on his last three starts and last time out finally got off the mark over this distance at Thirsk. She has finished behind the favourite a few starts ago but this horse does his best work late on so if she can be up there when they kick for home she will not be far away.

18:45 - Spanish Archer 6/5 Win

The final race from our picks at Newcastle tonight is the Capital Allowances Consultants LTD Novice Stakes. This race features three horses out of Frankel with none of them going off as favourite. We have gone for the favourite and in this tough race and the feature from a racing fans point of view it will be strongly contested. Spanish Archer for James Fanshawe is a very highly rated prospect and ran out an easy winner on his second start at Nottingham earlier in the month. He will have needed to improve from that to be involved today but in such a strong field and warranting favourite says a lot about what this horse could turn into.
