Ayr Gold Cup Meeting - Day Two Preview 20/09/19

13:40 - Al Maktoum College, Dundee/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes - Gift Of Kings

Kevin Ryan's 2-y-o is a Kingman half-brother to the smart Delegator and he looks to have a cracking chance in the opener on Day Two. He recieves 7lb from the two previous winners and his eye-catching run in a decent York maiden on debut suggests he has a decent future.

Danny Tudhope booked.

14:10 - Shadwell Stallions Nursery - Alix James

This colt was smashed up in the betting on debut before finishing second to a subsequent listed winner here on his second start. That form leaves him bang in the mix and a line can be drawn through his latest start with him being hampered at a crucial stage in the race.

The drying conditions are ideal and he looks a nice e/w price.

14:40 - Shadwell Stud/EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes - Lady Penelope

A single figure draw has won the previous ten renewals of this and Joseph O'Brien's Lady Penelope has a fine chance from box 6. She skipped clear impressively when sent off 4/7 on her latest start and Jason Hart, who has tackled the course over 200 times, looks a shrewd booking from the Irish yard.

Piece Of Paradise had our selection back in second when they met in August but Lady Penelope is now better off at the weights with a kinder draw.

15:15 - Al Maktoum Cup Arran Scottish Fillies' Sprint Stakes - Que Amoro

Michael Dods picked up this event last season with Intense Romance and he may just follow up with the hat-trick seeking Que Amoro. Paul Mulrennan, who rides, has been bullish about this horse in the past and things seemed to have clicked with him dominating his last two races at York.

He is back at a different track here but he looks a progressive type and there should be plenty more to come.

15:45 - William Hill Ayr Bronze Cup Handicap - Tommy G & Pendleton

Danny Tudhope, who was in the winners enclosure on Day one, has another excellent opportunity with Tommy G. Jim Goldie's gelding has four course victories to his name and he lurks on an attractive mark. The yard were also successful in this in 2012.

Secondly, Pendleton, who has been a model of consistency throughout his career is officially 3lb well in and he has a solid course run to his name. The yard are renowned for their sprinters and he is sure to be in the mix given the right breaks, which are crucial in this race.

16:20 - BAM Properties Ltd Handicap - Alright Sunshine

Alright Sunshine has proved a revelation since switched to the flat and this step up in trip should pose no issues based on his bumper form.

He was the subject of a monster gamble in the Old Borough Cup finishing an unlucky second and he should be tough to beat off top weight.

16:55 - H&V Commissioning Services Ltd Handicap - Sootability

Richard Fahey has won this three of the last nine years and Sootability may be ready to strike before going up in the weights.

This nicely bred daughter of Camelot is officially well in following her near miss at Epsom and she now returns to 1m, the trip of her most recent victory.
