32Red Kauto Star Novices Chase' Runner By Runner Guide

1. Bags Groove

Trainer - Harry Fry

Jockey - Noel Fehily

This gelding has notched up three consecutive victories in the latter end of this year, after returning from a 168 day break. His previous two outings have displayed some outstanding jumping and that can stand him in good stead to go close against better opposition here.

2. No Hassle Hoff

Trainer - Dan Skelton

Jockey - Daryl Jacob

Two fairly average performances so far this season in Class 3 & 4 company and although many would argue on his day he can be useful, he looks largely out of his depth here and as the outsider of the field, he appears best watched.

3. Red Indian

Trainer - Miss Katie Morgan

Jockey - Ross Chapman

This six year-old, trained by Miss Katie Morgan returned from a 229 day break to take a useful novice on stable/chasing debut. This appears a largely tougher task against high quality opposition with a less than forgiving mark, though the jockey in the saddle has a 100% strike rate when riding for the above trainer (2 wins from 2 rides).

4. Santini

Trainer - Nicky Henderson

Jockey - Nico De Boinville

This gelding, out of Milan, was developing into a smart hurdler and performed just as, if not better when sent Chasing previously when landing a Grade 2 contest at Newbury against a rival who has since gone on to better things. He has four career victories to date from five starts and appears to have a leading chance here.

5. The Worlds End

Trainer - Tom George

Jockey - Gavin Sheehan

Great start to this season with two wins from three starts, albeit up against weaker opposition than he faces here. That said, he won by an impressive 26 lengths last-time out so it appears on his day he could be capable of facing similar opposition such as he competes against here, which stands him in good stead.

6. Topofthegame

Trainer - Paul Nicholls

Jockey - Harry Cobden

His trainer speaks quite highly of this six year-old gelding and he returned from a long break, after wind surgery, to go close after seeming to have little chance in the early stages of the race. He appears to be the one to take from the race after jumping well, and looks sure to suit the step up in trip.

7. La Bague Au Roi

Trainer - Warren Greatex

Jockey - Richard Johnson

This mare is unbeaten for Warren Greatrex and puts that record to the sword here, with the mare stepping up slightly in Grade after a 7 length victory. Although, he appeared fortunate that day as Lostintranslation may have gone close but for several mistakes. Easy to make a case for and could go well here.
