Who To Follow On Glorious Goodwood Day Two - 28/07/21

Horse To Follow - Poetic Flare

Poetic Flare heads the market as a well fancied favourite in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes.

Jim Bolger's representative achieved Classic glory in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May before subsequently finishing 6th in the French Guineas and runner-up in the Irish Guineas before a hugely impressive win in the St James's Palace Stakes at the Royal meeting.

The son of Dawn Approach is expected to assert dominance and add another Group 1 to his tally despite facing off against his elders for the first time on Wednesday.

Trainer To Follow - William Haggas

William Haggas is impartial to a Goodwood winner, especially during the festival, boasting a 20.48% strike rate at the track across the last 3 years.

Haggas has a number of shouts across the card on day 2 including 3rd favourite Kolisi in the opener who's expected to appreciate conditions and the step up to 12f.

He runs Sacred in the Oak Tree who's seeing a bit of money in the market thanks to a 100% record over the 7f trip and Canonized, his entrant in the 16:10, sits as the current favourite for the event after an impressive win at Windsor last time out in a messy race.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand

Hand in hand with William Haggas, whom Marquand operates at a 22% strike rate when teaming up with, Tom Marquand takes the rides of the trainers trio; Kolisi, Scared and Canonized, who as mentioned previously, all have great claims in their races.

Marquand is currently operating at a highly respectable 17% strike rate across the last 14 days whilst backing all his Goodwood runners for the last 3 years would have returned a +£8.96 profit to a £1 level stake, just one of 2 jockeys at Goodwood to have a positive P/L.
