ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 27th December

There are a bumper nine live races on ITV for Saturday's racing from both Kempton and Chepstow. With Grade two handicaps from the London track and Chepstow hosting the Coral Welsh Grand National. We've gone through all the live races and picked out our selections and tips for the afternoon.

Holly Hartingo 10/1

Ran well in this race last year to be 2nd and goes well at this venue, coming 2nd on her seasonal comeback here in a low grade affair last month. Was off a mark of 115 12 months ago and lines up only 3lbs higher in the weights here. Looks well enough treated to play a hand at a venue that plays to her strengths. Should go well again.

Macktoad 11/10

It looks safer to be with Macktoad here off the back of his impressive win at Sandown, staying on well late to dominate for Gary & Josh Moore. The yard do well with juveniles and he should be hard to beat after getting a good stable debut in the books.

Mambonumberfive 5/2

I’d rather be on the side of the 4 year old mambonumberfive here after going from strength to strength since going novice chasing. Won well at Aintree on chasing debut before backing that up at Newbury in good fashion. Steps up in grade but looks an assured chaser and gets a handy weight for age allowance. Should be hard to beat getting weight all round.

Ambion View 11/2

Looks in need of a stiffer test of stamina, running on well when last seen at Exeter over 18 furlongs, doing his best work late on to be 2nd but clearly lacking pace. Put in a similar effort at Newton Abbot in October and should relish this step up in trip. Can rate much better than 123 now moving into this sphere.

Thistle Ask 2/1

Has made into a really nice horse for the Skeltons, winning 3 handicaps this season including the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter last time out. Meets Saint Segal on slightly worse terms than he did in Exeter but hasn’t hit his ceiling yet and should be right in the mix again off a mark of 146.

O’Connell 8/1

Only really got going late at Sandown last time out and stays really well and seemingly handles any underfoot conditions. Only carries a 4lbs penalty for his most recent success and a mark of 136 likely underestimates him for this stiff test. Should be doing his best work late on in this gruelling test.

Beachcomber 8/1

Absolutely bolted up in this race last year off a much lower mark but wasn’t disgraced at Punchestown at the end of the season off just 1lbs lower in the weights. Poor comeback run at Ascot can be ignored and will hopefully leave him match fit for this. Has scope to run well off this mark and gets ideal conditions.

Lunar Discovery 10/1

Gets a 5lbs swing in the weights with Ben Solo at the top of the market altering finishing 6 lengths behind that rival over C+D last time out. Has run to a consistent level recently and has been quite leniently dropped a 1lbs in the ratings. Dangerously well handicapped off 117.
