Who To Follow At York On Day Two Of The Dante Meeting

Horse To Follow - Acklam Express

The Listed Westow Stakes over five furlongs sees a decent field head to post and the progressive sprinter Acklam Express for Nigel Tinkler could take some beating.

The three year old landed a hat-trick last season winning over five furlongs at Hamilton, Goodwood and then at the Yorkshire Ebor meeting in a Listed event.

After that he ran twice more in Britain, being stepped up to better quality and finding some of the runners just too good.

Having a small break he came back in October and returned at Meydan over five furlongs and finished a good second behind Equilateral for Charles Hills.

He then backed that up with another close third in a Group Three event over 6f at Meydan and on his final run in Dubai he was again a narrow third in the Group One Al Quoz Sprint Stakes.

That sets the form standard in this race and being a course and distance winner, having also won on both good and soft ground makes him a solid bet.

Trainer To Follow - Tim Easterby

Yorkshire based trainer Tim Easterby has some great chances to get on the score sheet for the festival on day two starting in the first race.

The ever reliable Copper Knight is the second favourite in the five furlong handicap, being dropped to a mark of 85 and having ran well off the same mark at Chester he can go well over a course and distance he has won over before.

Another big chance for the handler is Winter Power in the Listed Westow Stakes, who would love the rain to come crashing down.

Easterby has been in fine form for the amount of horses he has been running over the last two weeks, landing 12 winners from 86 runners, which sees him running at a 14%.

Jockey To Follow - William Buick

William Buick is a rider that has well and truly got his eyes on this seasons jockeys title and he will be hoping to land some winners on Thursday to help his pursuit.

In the third race of the day Buick sits on the likeable Matthew Flinders for Ed Walker with the four year old running a good race on seasonal debut and he should improve for that.

In the Dante Buick sits on Hurricane Lane for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin, with the colt putting his unbeaten record on the line.

He has another nice chance in the Maiden Stakes over 6f with Albahr, who is making his debut but looks a nice son of Dubawi.
