Marty McFly 8/1

A progressive novice chaser last season that took to fences well and notched up an impressive sequence of 4 wins between 2 and 2.5 miles on good and good to soft ground. Made a recent return over hurdles and looked bogged down in the slow ground and in need of the run. However, that will have brought him along nicely for fitness and back on quick ground and over fences he can continue his progression in this sphere.

The Gray Ghost 9/2

Decent form over hurdles between 2 and 2.5 miles and made a very pleasing debut over fences at Uttoxeter when chasing home a smart one for the Skeltons in Country Mile. Looked to lack the gears for the minimum trip and will appreciate this slight step up in trip on quick ground. Looks very nicely treated off a mark of 120.

Kateira 11/10

It’s hard to get away from Kateira at the top of the market for this, having fended off the 2025 Champion hurdler Golden Ace in this contest 12 months ago. She struggled to hold her form in handicaps off an elevated mark for the rest of the season but has had a prep run and sits 8lbs clear in the ratings. Ground conditions in her favour, she’ll get a good tow into the race from Ooh Betty for a stalking ride from Harry Skelton.

Boothill 8/1

Was trying to carry heavy weights off an elevated mark in handicaps last season to little success but those efforts have seen his rating come down to a more manageable level. A winner of this race in 2023 off a mark of 149, Boothill has a good record at this venue recording three wins in his five C+D runs. Has gone well fresh in the past and if retaining his ability at 11, a mark of 137 the veteran looking well handicapped.

Take No Chances 11/8

Got a touch unlucky in this last year, having to change course around a fading leader before being beaten just a neck by Strong Leader. The Skelton mare has followed the same path this year, with a prep run at Chepstow and finds herself 4lbs better off with Strong Leader at the weights. Can gain compensation for last year’s narrow defeat.

Neon Moon 12/1

Had a nightmare start in this race last year, being hampered at the first and second fence and having to make up ground again to get his position. He travelled into the race really well before fading late and returns this year 2lbs lower in the weights and 1lbs below his last winning mark. It’s a weaker renewal this year and a more patient ride can see him get in the mix again off this handy looking rating.

Pic D’orhy 6/4

It’s a poor looking renewal of the Charlie Hall and new Skelton recruit Pic D’orhy sets a strong standard at the top of the market having gone a close 2nd in this race last year. Goes well fresh, represents and in yard form and finished 22 lengths clear of 3rd last year. Can go one better in this year’s renewal.

Heart Wood 3/1

Kept improving as a chaser and posted his best effort to date when running out an impressive winner of the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival back in March. Has proven his stamina stretches this far with wins over 3 miles and the de Bromhead yard has started the season well. Goes well fresh and looks the one they all have to beat.

Filibustering 3/1

Progressive last term, winning three handicap hurdles this year. Had a short break before running in a hot contest at Chepstow where he shaped well before fading on slightly softer ground. Gets back on a sounder surface now and can put his race fitness to use.

Moveit Like Minnie 10/1

Ran well in this race last year in what looked a strong renewal that was won by Alexei. Scored over 2.5 miles back in March off a mark of 116 and doesn’t look badly treated back here rated 119. Ran well to be 2nd on seasonal comeback and will no doubt tighten up for fitness for that effort. Can put in another bold bid and he gets solid course jockey Nico de Boinville in the saddle.
