Who To Follow At Royal Ascot On Day One 2021

Horse To Follow - Palace Pier

Trainer To Follow - John Gosden

The John & Thady Gosden team have been frequent winners at Royal Ascot throughout the years and this year he looks to have some strong chances to add to his tally on the first day.

One of his best chances across the week comes in the first race of the week in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes, with Palace Pier looking to solidify himself as the best miler in the sport at the moment.

Other big chances for the master trainer are Mostahdaf in the St James's Palace Stakes, Faisal in the Listed Wolferton Stakes and Amtiyaz in the lucky last.

He holds a strong team in both the lesser races and the group races and it would be a surprise to not see him in the winners enclosure at some point on the first day.

The Gosden's have a superb record at Ascot over the last year running at a strike rate of 19% having had 59 runners, 11 winners and nine places.

Jockey To Follow - Hollie Doyle

Finally, the jockey to follow on the first day is the queen of racing Hollie Doyle, who landed her first winner at the royal meeting last year and will be looking to add to that.

Doyle has been in fine form heading into the meeting currently running at just under 20% over the last two weeks having landed nine winners.

Her best scheduled rides across the first day look to be Faisal in the Listed Wolferton Stakes and Amtiyaz in the Copper Horse Handicap Stakes.

She is likely to be riding some other nice horses across the day and having also landed the first Group One of her career at the track, she has a special association with the track.
