Who To Follow At Newmarket On Friday - 09/10/20

Horse To Follow - Indigo Girl

The big race of the day is the Group One bet365 Fillies' Mile and with a stellar field heading to post we have really studied the form to get our selection today.

Although the two Irish runners at the top of the market pose a huge challenge having Group One form, we like the looks of the John Gosden trained Indigo Girl, who just looks a star in the making.

She looks to have a huge chance in this event off the back off what she has done on her two sole runs to date and deserves her chance in in this black type event.

The two year old filly made her debut at Yarmouth on soft ground beating a fair field by three lengths and then improved from that at Doncaster last time out when taking the Group Two May Hill Stakes.

She takes on some of those rivals again with the second, third, fourth and fifth all entered in this contest and if improving again should only have to see off the Irish challengers.

Trainer To Follow - Roger Varian

Roger Varian has had a fine season to date and has a big opportunity to add to that on Friday with some huge chances in the big races.

The handler over the last two weeks has been in exceptional form landing four winners from 20 runners which sees him currently running at 20% strike rate.

On Friday his big chances include Nazuna in the Group Three over seven furlongs, Khaloosy stepping up to Group Two company and Shandoz in the old Rowley Cup Handicap.

Jockey To Follow - Silvestre De Sousa

SDS has been a jockey at the top of the sport for some time now, being a three time champion jockey and now having a great partnership with King Power Racing.

The rider has been in superb form over the last fortnight picking up nine winners from 43 rides which currently sees him with a 20.93% strike rate.

His best chance of the day seems to be in the lucky last with the progressive Angel Power stepping up to Group Three company, but also having rides on Happy Power and Winter Power could make for a successful day.
