Watford Suspend Reece Miller After Ascot Brawl

Watford have suspended youth player Reece Miller after he was pictured to be at the centre of a ten-man brawl at Royal Ascot last week.

The Premier League outfit - who made the FA Cup final last season, made the decision to suspended the academy player upon seeing the footage of the fight portrayed all over social media.

The Hornets released this statement: "We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness.

“The club will not tolerate any behaviour which tarnishes its image and a full disciplinary investigation is now in process.

“As soon as the footage was brought to the club’s attention, an immediate decision was taken to suspend the player.

“He will now face an inquiry with all disciplinary options available to the club.

"There will be no further comment until the investigation is completed.”

A third-year academy striker, Miller was allegedly one of the protagonists causing the scuffle, which broke out at the race meet last Friday, whilst the Queen watched her horses parade just yards away.

A video of the brawl (below) shows the 18-year-old in a black pinstripe suit, with a flat cap and shades.

One of his close friends admitted his disgust at the sequence of events that unfolded, on what was supposed to be a glorious trouble-free occasion for the footballer during the off-season.

He said: “I thought the fact they were posing about it after was pretty disgusting.

“There were women in the video and Ascot is a family event and I saw one was KO’d.

“I thought it was disgusting and embarrassing. I just thought, ‘imagine if that was my Mum or sister’ and they were all trying to show who was the bigger man.

"It was a bit embarrassing really. It’s not the first time there’s been violence like this at Ascot.”

Watford have confirmed they will have an update on the situation, after an internal investigation on the matter.

The club kick off their domestic campaign at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 10th August.
