Throwback Race Of The Day For Tuesday - 07/09/21

This week sees some superb racing in both England and Ireland and across this week we will be looking back at some of the past renewals of the big races, starting with last year's Irish Champion Stakes.

The super-mare for Ballydoyle, Magical turned the tables with Ghaiyyath to land back to back renewals of the Group One Irish Champions Stakes last year and has now gone of to stud.

Magical had an illustrious career over the years taking home numerous black type events in both England and Ireland and in the early part of her career, if it wasn't for Enable, she would have more.

Having taken on the best horses over 10f and 12f during the last four years, she always managed to bounce back from defeat to land big races.

The Irish Champion Stakes is a race she made her own, last term looking sure to finish second again to the Cartier Horse Of The Year Ghaiyyath, but managing to go past him late on and take the contest.

This year sees another superstar mare looking to pull one over on the smart colt and it looks set to be a cracker, but for today we are looking back at Magical's win in the 2020 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
