Today's throwback race of the day is looking back at the 2019 Dante Stakes where the John Gosden trained Too Darn Hot was just pipped by the Hughie Morrison trained Telecaster.
The race was built up as the big Derby Trial for for the Dewhurst Stakes winner, but although running a good race he was no match for the winner Telecaster.
Telecaster did head to the Derby after the race but unfortunately finished last of the 13 runners, not handling the track and just overall not running any sort of race.
Too Darn Hot on the other hand went on to finish second and third in good Group One events when dropped back to a mile and finished his career landing the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
The Dante is a superb race that has seen some superb winners and unlucky losers and 2019's renewal saw both of that.
Enjoy!

TELECASTER firmly entered the Derby frame after an impressive success in the Dante, lowering the colours of Too Darn Hot and Japan 😱
One of the best renewals of the race in recent years?! 🤔
