Three Standout Performers - 24/10/2018

13:20 Duke of Hazzard (Deauville)

The Paul Cole trained Duke of Hazzard won the feature in France this afternoon - the Prix Isonomy, a listed contest over the straight mile.

Well into stride, he settled early into fourth, before taking closer order two furlongs from home and keeping on strongly in the final stride.

Good ride from Christophe Soumillon, beating some high profile rivals in Ahesta Bero and Prince Eiji of Roger Varian’s.

13:30 Rainbow Heart

On a day where seven of the eight races featured 2yo, Rainbow Heart built on his debut third here last month by landing the EPG Fillies’ Novice Median Auction Stakes.

Having virtually made all, Ryan Moore set a modest pace before going clear inside the last quarter of a mile.

A race where not many got involved, Rainbow Heart scores by eight lengths and looks one to keep an eye on next year.

14:25 Peppay le Pugh

Peppay le Pugh has been in fine form since arriving at Harry Skelton’s yard and has enjoyed a superb summer.

He won the Fred & Mercy Rimell Memorial Handicap Chase for Dan’s brother - Harry Skelton, who looks to hunt down Richard Johnson who tops the Jumps Jockeys Championship with 104 wins (as of 23rd Oct).

Skelton knuckled down on the straight as his mount did appear to be idling, but he got the job done clinging on gamely and won by the tightest of margins.
