Dubai Honour 5/6

Clear top rated of these and showed he still retains ability at 8 years old with good efforts in Group One races over in Australia this spring. Didn’t quite stay 13 furlongs when last seen but drops back in trip and grade for this. Should assert his dominance over the field under Cieren Fallon.

Breacher 7/1

At the prices with only the small field, I’d rather side with the Muir & Grassick trained Breacher for this. An easy winner on debut at Salisbury, he made the jump up to Group company at Sandown 2 weeks ago, handled slow ground fine and was only beaten a length in what looked a decent contest. Will handle the slow conditions again underfoot and brings genuine group form to the table.

Tribal Star 16/1

Came 3rd in this race last year off a 1lbs higher mark and has been running over an inadequate trip lately, likely to nudge his mark down a little. Goes well at this venue, having placed here the last two visits and lines up looking nicely handicapped. Will appreciate stepping back up in trip and is well drawn in stall 2. Looks overpriced.

Apollo One 7/1

Has hit the frame in the last two renewals of this race off higher marks and hinted he’s returning to form with a creditable 4th at York over this distance last time out. Has been shuffled down another 1lbs in the weights for that effort and looks extremely well handicapped off a mark of 90. Back in form and a good record over C+D, a big run looks on the cards.

Flora Of Bermuda 7/1

Has bounced back to form this season, winning three of her five outings this campaign and showed she stays 7 furlongs winning at Glorious Goodwood. A late blindfold removal ruined her chances in the Group One City Of York Stakes last time out but she’s eased in grade now. Unexposed over this trip and is in red hot form, can put in another big effort.

Pierre Bonnard 3/1

Aidan O’Brien has been farming this race over the last few years, winning all of the last three renewals and five of the last 10. Pierre Bonnard has been slowly improving this campaign and although he lacked the speed to go with Maltese Cross at York, he did pull away from stablemate Christmas Day. On breeding looks like he’ll stay this extra two furlongs and handles any kind of going conditions.

Blue Bolt 11/8

Has took a major leap forward this season, winning all four of her starts and claiming Group One honours over in France last month. Has gotten the better of Precise on her last two starts and there’s no reason to think that form will be reversed. Sets the standard on recent form and should be hard to beat again under Colin Keane.

Ebt’s Guard 20/1

A regular in these big 1 mile handicaps, Ebt’s Guard has been in fine form this season despite his lofty handicap mark wand wasn’t disgraced in group 2 company last time out. Has been dropped 2lbs to 102 off the back of his recent outing putting him on his lowest handicap mark for the whole season. Has hit the frame on four of his six handicap runs this season and is now better treated. Can outrun a big price again.
