Silvestre De Sousa Faces Lengthy Ban And Misses Champions Day

Champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa will miss Champions Day at Ascot due to picking up an 18 day ban under the totting up procedure for over use of the whip on numerous occasions.

This isn't the first ban de Sousa has picked up this season but luckily it will not affect him picking up this years Champions jockey title where he will be taking the glory for the third time in four years but he was set to miss the ceremony in a boycott to his 18 day ban he was given yesterday.

He said in his( Credit 188 Blog) "I feel it’s a bit harsh and frustrating that they have ruled me out of riding at Ascot next Saturday on a day I was supposed to be there to be crowned champion jockey for a third time. Instead, I’ll now be at home packing my bags for my winter stint in Hong Kong."

With the racing world thinking there could be a feud starting between the BHA and the Champion flat jockey, it all got settled pretty smoothly with SDS writing a revised message on his twitter.
