Richard Johnson Tops Super Week Off With Five Timer At Perth

Richard Johnson has had one of the best weeks of his career as a jockey after some brilliant performances have meant he is now only one behind current champion jump jockey leader Harry Skelton.

On Thursday Johnson went to Perth with six rides on board all of Gordon Elliott's raiders that had come over for the meeting and he went on to ride a 95/1 five timer for the trainer which took him to just one behind Skelton in the leaderboard.

In June Johnson's chances of retaining the jockeys championship for a fourth straight year looked nearly down and out being 19 wins behind the leader but after a superb shift in form he is now right on the heels of Harry Skelton.

Johnson's stunning outing at Perth came only two days after he claimed his 3,500th win of his career in Great Britain and Ireland when winning at Warwick in what was a momentous day for him and his family.

Current jumps jockey championship leader Harry Skelton before yesterdays events was a strong 5/4 shot to take the title but after Johnson's heroics this has completely changed and he is now favourite to take his fourth trophy.

What a great week it has been for Dicky Johnson, sealing 3,500 career winners, riding a five timer at one track and cutting a near impossible gap on your rival to one win. He has had worse weeks.

Jump Jockeys Championship Title Betting - Richard Johnson 4/11, Harry Skelton 7/2, Brian Hughes 12/1.
