Nassau Stakes Guide

1. Deirdre

Trainer - Mitsuru Hashida

Jockey - Oisin Murphy

The first runner of the feature contest is the Japanese raider Deirdre who is the outsider of the field off the back of her poor run at Royal Ascot in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes.

She might not have took to the soft ground that day and won't like any rain on Thursday but even so, she must improve massively from her last few runs to be involved here.

2. Nyaleti

Trainer - Mark Johnston

Jockey - Joe Fanning

Another one of the bigger odds horses on offer in this event is Nyaleti at 25/1 who unfortunately for connections looks very opposable.

She won a Listed race last season so does like the track but her last win was one run after that in the German 1000 Guineas last year and she has been underwhelming ever since then and it looks tough for her in this one.

3. Rawdaa

Trainer - Sir Michael Stoute

Jockey - Daniel Tudhope

Rawdaa is a very interesting character in this Group 1 after going very close in some Group 2 races recently against some good horses and now can make the step up to this country.

She is very lightly raced for her trainer and is versatile over different trips and ground types which makes her easy to back and if coming on for Royal Ascot performance she has frame claims.

4. Sun Maiden

Trainer - Sir Michael Stoute

Jockey - James Doyle

The second of Sir Michael Stoute's runners and she looks to be the second string of the master trainers runner in the race even though she has been in some great form.

Her last two runs this season have shown her true potential when winning the Listed Nottinghamshire Oaks and then scoring on the all weather in a Group 3 at Newcastle.

However, she still needs more on that form to be involved here but is going in the right direction.

5. Channel

Trainer - F-H Graffard

Jockey - Pierre-Charles Boudot

Next is the only French raider in the race who has superb form, racing four times in her career and going on to win her last three and landed the hat-trick in the Group 1 Prix de Diane.

She is rated better than most the horses in this race but it is hard to tell how the french form matches up but she must be taken very seriously.

6. Hermosa

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Ryan Moore

The superstar filly of the season for the Ballydoyle team is Hermosa, with the three year old performing to a very high standard in all three of her races just losing her unbeaten record for the season last time out at Royal Ascot.

She was touched off in second to shock French raider Watch Me who won at a big price but if she can get back to her dual 1000 Guineas winning form she is dangerous.

It looks about time for the filly to step up in trip to 1 mile 2f and she makes for very interesting reading.

7. Just Wonderful

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Wayne Lordan

The second and final runner for Aidan O'Brien is Just Wonderful who had been really out of sorts in her first three runs of the season finishing near the back of the field in Group 1 events over a mile.

However, last time out over in America she was bumped up in trip to 1 mile 2f and she flourished finishing a solid second and if coming on for that run has to be in the mix.

8. Maqsad

Trainer - William Haggas

Jockey - Jim Crowley

Although there may be better rated horses in the race this contest looks perfect for her after impressively landing the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket last time she ran over this distance.

Her last run was disappointing in the Epsom Oaks when finishing midfield but ultimately never staying the 1 mile 4f distance and with conditions back in the fillies favour she could have a big say in this contest.

9. Mehdaayih

Trainer - John Gosden

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

The final runner of the contest comes from John Gosden's yard who has landed both Group 1s at the festival so far and won't want to share with anyone else.

This three year old has been superb this season with just one blip in the Epsom Oaks and this drop in trip, although winning last time out at this distance, means she will be better at 1 mile 2f.

She is looking for her first Group 1 this term and she heads into this contest with a huge chance.
