Listed Scurry Stakes Guide 2022

Clive Cox’s 3 year old had a brilliant juvenile campaign last season and handily made up for being a beaten favourite on debut with a lethal performance on his second outing.

A decent showing in the Coventry Stakes saw him drop down to listed level and score by a neck to Coming Patch. Despite being beaten in his next two starts, a brilliant display at Doncaster saw him just get the better of Armor over 5 furlongs and seal a group 2 victory.

His form hasn’t fit the same heights since however. Beaten in group 1 company on his last outing of last season, he’s also been beaten in group 3 and group 2 company this year.

Dropping back to 5 furlongs and to listed level should stand him in good stead however. The highest rated in the field.

Despite a surprise debut win at 20/1, Live In The Dream failed to kick on from his initial success last year and failed to win in his next 3 outings.

Tried over 5 furlongs and 6.5 furlongs, his performances plateaued so he was gelded at the end of the season.

Switched to handicap company for this campaign, he was beaten over 6 furlongs on debut and again on soft going on his next outing but sealed a nice brace of wins over 5 furlongs in class 2 company.

Last seen running an admirable 5th in the Epsom Dash he’s worth a go at this level but needs to continue his progression to have a say.

Winning on debut in a maiden for fillies over 5 furlongs, Get Ahead looked to have a promising season ahead, she shaped well when coming a decent 5th in the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot off the back of that but wasn’t seen again until March of this year.

Returning in novice company she failed to justify favouritism and was easily beaten over 6 furlongs. Dropping back to 5 furlongs for a listed race at Bath, she ran much better to be 3rd. Last seen again coming 3rd at listed level at York.

She stayed on well last time out and this stiffer course should suit her nicely if she’s in the same form.

A really smart 2 year old campaign saw Illustrating win nicely on debut before a decent enough showing in the Queen Mary Stakes to be 7th.

She bounced back to score in a conditions race at Glorious Goodwood and thereafter shaped well in group company. Coming 3rd narrowly in France, 6th in a group 1 over 6 furlongs and a pleasing 2nd in group 3 company behind Twilight Jet.

Brought back to racing at listed level this season, she ran well below her normal level to be a well beaten 7th. Hopefully that run sharpens her up and she can give her true running here.

A promising debut saw Attagirl follow up with a lightening display over 6 furlongs to a striking victory. However she failed to step up in grade and was well held in the Princess Margaret Stakes off the back of that.

Dropped in trip and grade, she went agonisingly close at Newbury before getting the better of Cattura in a listed race at York. She saw that form reversed at Doncaster however after getting upset in the stalls.

Her campaign this season seemingly isn’t going to plan. A lacklustre effort in France in a group 3 was followed by an even poorer showing at Hamilton in a listed race at the end of last month. She needs a seriously revival to get involved here.

After being tried initially over 6 furlongs, Mitbaahy finally found success on his third outing to score in maiden company handsomely over 5 furlongs.

Immediately moved up in class off the back of that, he ran solid races at listed level to be 3rd and 2nd. Rounding out the season looking well out of his depth in a group 3, only managing to beat 2 rivals home.

This season he’s returned in decent form. Going close in a conditions race at Nottingham over 5 furlongs before scoring in a class 2 conditions race at Hamilton to score easily. He might just be slightly below this level however, but is worth his place at listed level from his outings last season.
