Making his debut over 6 furlongs back in June at Newbury, Chaldean was well fancied in the market but failed to really get truly involved.

With that experience in the books he stepped up to 7 furlongs where he got the better of Silver Knott at Newbury. Putting his knowledge of the job at hand to use to assert his dominance late on.

Moved to group company after that, he won that smartly to just get the better of Indestructible at York. The pair pulled well clear of the remainder with Chaldean just managing to stay on the better of the two to secure group honours.

He looks to narrowly have the beating of Indestructible but might not hold Silver Knott on form.

After running in maiden company at the Curragh, he shaped with promise over 6 furlongs without troubling the first few home.

Stepped up to 7 furlongs off the back oft that run, he scored at Windsor with bundles in hand. Despite looking green, he pulled well clear to a dominant 5.5 length victory. Despite the form not working out particularly well from his win, he did beat the field with ease.

Moved to group company when last seen, he was just out battled late on by Chaldean. It looks like he’s going to have a hard time reversing that form but this is going to be a very tactical affair.

Running for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby, Silver Knott arrives here in sparkling form. Despite being beaten on debut at Newbury over 7 furlongs by Chaldean, Silver Knott has since bounced back.

Fancied in the market to beat Chaldean on debut, he was hampered in running and came home in 4th. He left that well behind to beat Theme Park at Kempton on his next run. That rival has since boosted the form by winning a novice stakes recently.

Stepped up in grade for his most recent run, Silver Knott managed to make the transition up to group 3 level and handily scored again over 7 furlongs. The form of that win has yet to be tested but he scored with bundles in hand.

It’s not insurmountable for him to reverse the form with Chaldean here.
