Friday Throwback Race - 13/11/20

Faugheen

The Morgiana Hurdle is the only Grade One event across the weekend and with that in mind we have looked back at the 2017 renewal where Faugheen the Machine cruised to victory.

The 13 year old looked set for retirement after being pulled with a heart problem up at Aintree in April of last year, but Mullins gave him another season and he got back to his best when landing back to back Grade Ones over fences at Limerick and Leopardstown.

The son of Germany rounded off last season with a strong third in the Marsh Novices' Chase at the festival behind Samcro and stablemate Melon and Patrick has said that the stable star is fit and ready to go again.

His hurdling career is what made him the force he still is today and although when landing this event it saw him beat a weak field, he was coming back from a long time off the track.

He is one of the greatest jump horses to grace the turf and in what looks to be his last season, can he go and land more black type glory?
