Four Standout Performers - 09/10/2018

Flower Power

The Skyram Handicap was won by Flower Pot who overcame top weight to win under an excellently timed ride from Dougie Costello. Held up in the final trio throughout, Costello cut every corner up the rail before switching two out. This proved decisive as he avoided the retreating early pace-setters and got up in the nick of time to land the spoils for Tony Coyle and Stef Keniry.

Encore D'or

Ten minutes later, Encore D’or won the Racing UK Autumn Sprint Handicap at Leicester. Chasing the leaders, he didn’t appear to find much after Jim Crowley’s first urgings. However he eventually found more than his competitors and ran on inside the final furlong. This was leg two of a hat trick to be recorded by Jim Crowley, who had a great day in the East Midlands.

Fieldsman

David Griffiths enjoyed a fine day out on the south coast at Brighton with success in the fifth race. Fieldsman, one of the market outsiders, took full advantage of a disappointing display from short-priced favourite Allegiant, who found nothing under Silvestre de Sousa. Fieldsman held on well under Tom Marquand to land the spoils and record a third win on the turf.

Pearl Noir

Pearl Noir has fallen to a lenient mark of late and had signalled his claims to future success when he was a near course and distance second last time out. There was no stopping him today, as he beat Furni Factors - the early pacesetter, under Mr Gareth Newmarch.
