First Day Of Tattersalls Sale See's 3,400,000 Gns Spent On One Horse

The October Tattersalls Yearling Sales started yesterday and there was no messing about at the Newmarket based auction with as Coolmore's own MV Magnier had to bid to the death to secure the most expensive yearling in the world for 2018 so far at 3,400,000 Gns with more expected over the next two days.

A brother to three top class horses in Secret Gesture, Sir Issac Newton and this years Group 2 Beresford Stakes winner Japan trained by Aidan O'Brien and is sure to train this talented youngster.

Close representation to some of the Bloodstock world's biggest investors in the game got themselves set up for the day round the paddock and the son of Galileo stepped out to the public and barely being out on the ring for 2 minutes and his total had reached 1 million Guineas.

Magnier was prominent in the auctioning but soon had company from many other favourable parties looking to secure this yearling with Simon Crisford who was there with the Godolphin team and Sheikh Mohammed part of a number of people wanting this horse.

However as the lot was nearing its end the more and more interested buyers started to diminish and Magnier raced the proceeding to 3 million Guineas and was soon countered by the Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida but after that he could go no more and the horse went to Magnier and Coolmore for over £3,500,000.

This yearling has now an entry for the Derby at epsom in 2020 and for the amount of money spent on the youngster you would like to think he will turn out to be a very special horse.
