Who To Follow At Sandown On Saturday - 21/08/21

Horse To Follow - Indigo Girl

The Group three Atalanta Stakes is a smart race that sees some very talented fillies head to post and we are siding with the John Gosden trained Indigo Girl.

The three year old has been seen three times during her career, all as a juvenile and having now been off the track since October she returns in what looks a very winnable race.

Indigo Girl made her debut at Yarmouth on soft ground beating a fair field by three lengths last season and then improved from that at Doncaster next time out when taking the Group Two May Hill Stakes.

She then stepped up to Group One company for the first time in her life in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket and she was a narrow second to the smart Pretty Gorgeous.

After some time off the track she returned at Ascot this season in the Group Three Valiant Stakes and seemed to need the run massively. She should be much fitter for this event and if anything like her two year old form she just wins this.

Trainer To Follow - John & Thady Gosden

John & Thady Gosden have been in outstanding form of late and head into the meeting at Sandown looking to extend that with some huge chances in both of the Group Three events.

In the Solario Stakes they field Reach For The Moon for The Queen who has been nothing short of superb to date, getting off the mark last time out and looking the horse to beat up in grade.

Another big chance for the handlers comes in the Group Three Atalanta Stakes with the Fillies' Mile seconf looking to bounce back to form after her seasonal debut run.

The Gosden's head into the meeting sporting a superb strike rate of 33% for the last two weeks with eight winners from there last 24 runners.

Jockey To Follow - Oisin Murphy

Oisin Murphy chooses to ride at Sandown and not York on Saturday and that sees him pick up some very smart rides for numerous trainers.

In the first he rides the favourite Devil's Angel who looks on a nice mark to go close and in the second he sits on Strozi, who also could go close.

His best ride of the day comes in the penultimate event of the afternoon with Silent Escape for Saeed bin Suroor looking to make it three wins in for.

Murphy heads into the meeting running at a 29% strike rate having 19 winners from his last 66 runners over the last fortnight.
