Pasley

The first race on the 1000 Guineas card on Saturday is the two mile Handicap and Pasley for Joseph O'Brien looks a very exciting runner back on the flat.

Having had a successful season over hurdles with three seconds and a third in his four runs during the winter, now back with no obstacles to jump he could be overpriced.

He looks a very nice each way bet and has shown he can handle good and soft ground.

Finest

Aidan O'Brien has been known to prolifically grab winners at this meeting and we are backing him to add to that tally on Saturday with his newcomers.

In the second race of the evening he fields Finest who looks a very interesting filly being a daughter of The Ghurka and was bought for €250,000 as a yearling.

She is having her first start over five furlongs and her pedigree suggests she is going to be a speedy type and unusually this season O'Brien's runners have not needed the run.

Snow

We are looking for a quick-fire double for Aidan O'Brien and in the Fillies Maiden over 1 mile 2 furlongs we like the look of Snow.

The three year old is a full sister to St Leger winner Kew Gardens and in her two races so far has shown real promise especially finishing fourth last time out.

Her handler explained that she would always be better as a three year old and having now matured and having runs under her belt she can kick start her career.

Jon Ess

Having no bet in the 5:45 handicap we move straight on to the Ragua Premier Handicap over 1 mile 4 furlongs and with plenty of runners heading to post we believe we have a nice each way chance.

Jon Ess for trainer Conor O'Dwyer is a six year old gelding that leaves everything on the track, especially in big fielded contests like this.

He is a very versatile horse racing frequently on the all weather and also turf and he has shown his best performances on quick ground.

He now finds himself on a very attractive turf mark and with the added bonus of a 10 pound claimer on board, he can use that to exploit the handicapper.

Speak In Colours

The first big event of the day is the Group Three Calyx Gladness Stakes over seven furlongs and Joseph O'Brien fields Speak In Colours.

The four year old has performed to a decent standard in tougher races than this and having won on both soft and good ground at the Curragh it gives him a big advantage.

He is a very pacy horse that in the past has performed best over six and seven furlongs and with the favourite dropping in trip we believe he is the better value bet.

The big race of the day is the Irish 1000 Guineas and Fancy Blue for youngster Donnacha O'Brien will be looking to give the new trainer his first black type success.

Having been with his father Aidan for the first two runs of her career, Fancy Blue is currently unbeaten winning over seven furlongs at Naas on good ground and backing that up over course and distance at the Curragh.

Magic Wand

The final race of the afternoon is the Group Two Lanwades Stud Stakes over a mile and although she is dropping in trip Magic Wand is a class above the field on ratings.

The five year old has Group One winning experience in Australia and having been racing all over the world for the last year it is nice to see her back in Ireland.

She has contested against tougher opponents for the majority of her career and if being anywhere near her best and handling the quicker mile event, she should blow these away.
