17:45 - Zestful

The first of the six Graded races on day one of the Breeders Cup meeting at Santa Anita is the Marathon Stakes over 1 mile 6 furlongs and our fancy is the unbeaten in his last six, Zestful.

This four year old gelding really has not put a foot wrong since March on both the turf and the dirt but has raced more frequently over the dirt.

He is certainly the one to beat for how he has ran recently and has stepped up hugely in his last two runs when joining this new yard with trainer Mark Glatt.

20:12 - A’ali

The first British raider that we fancy at the Breeders Cup meeting is star sprinter A'Ali for trainer Simon Crisford and jockey Frankie Dettori in the Grade Two Juvenile Turf Sprint.

The two year old has had a brilliant season racing five times, winning three of them and placing on his debut but ever since is first run at Ripon he has took to five furlongs superbly holding a sheer amount of pace on both good and soft ground.

A'Ali has landed three Group Two contests which include the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, Darley Prix Robert Papin at Deauville and on his last start at Doncaster in the Flying Childers.

He has been training at Wolverhampton's all weather track in preparation for the Santa Anita track that has a very similar bend that he will have to overcome which reads really well and for us makes him tough to beat.

20:52 - Decorated Invader

The first Grade One event of the evening sees the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Stakes over a mile and Decorated Invader looks a big challenger in this one.

This two year old has raced three times during his small career finishing a bright second on debut before landing his last two contests in nice style.

He landed a maiden at Saratoga before taking the Grade One Summer Stakes at Woodbine in Canada and although needing to progress again has a big chance.

21:32 - Bast

The Grade One contests come thick and fast and the next one is the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes on the Dirt over a mile and Bast looks the pick of the field.

This filly trained by superstar American trainer Bob Baffert has raced three times during her small career finishing a bright second on debut before landing her last two contests in nice style.

On her second start she landed a decent Grade One at Del Mar before backing that up next time out at Santa Anita over course and distance in the Grade One Chandelier Stakes.

The filly is a serious juvenile that looks difficult to beat.

22:12 - Fair Maiden

The Breeders Cup Fillies Turf sees plenty of British and Irish raiders go to post for the mile contest but we have sided with the home grown chance with Fair Maiden for Godolphin.

The youngster has raced four times this season with two good place efforts and two smart wins but now in this sphere will have to improve and she looks the type to do so.

Three starts ago she landed a maiden contest before quickly backing that up in a Listed contest at Woodbine over six and a half furlongs.

She stepped up to a mile for the first time in the Grade One Natalma Stakes at Woodbine last time out and was a narrow second and if improving for that run will be in the frame.

23:03 - Eight Rings

The final runner of the evening comes in the Breeders Cup Juvenile on the Dirt and we have stuck with trainer Bob Baffert and his horse Eight Rings to land the contest.

The juvenile has raced three times winning twice and only having an unbeaten record because his rider was unseated by another horses on his second start.

He scored nicely on his debut at Del Mar before last time out on his first run over course and distance at Santa Anita he took the Grade One American Pharoah Stakes which sets the standard in this one.
