The first selection of the afternoon from Newbury on Saturday comes in the Group Three Geoffrey Freer Stakes over 1m 5 1/2f and Klondike makes big appeal for trainer William Haggas.

Seen three times during his career making his debut at Newbury over 1m3f on soft ground at Newbury when seeing off the likeable Banderas by a head, getting better the further he went.

Sent to Goodwood next time out over the same trip in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes he finished a good second behind Group Two Queen's Vase winner Gregory, again staying on at the finish.

Last seen upped to 1m5f at Newmarket in the Group Three Bahrain Trophy Stakes he ran another solid event to finish under three lengths behind the winner Castle Way.

He looks an extremely slow horse that loves a slog and will get that on Saturday and although running well last time out the race turned into a sprint where the more galloping track at Newbury will play to his strengths if getting a nice pace to aim at, which he should do.

Trainer To Follow - Nigel Tinkler - Ripon

ITV Racing show off two races from Ripon on Saturday and the trainer to follow in both of the races is Nigel Tinkler who has live chances at decent prices.

His first runners on terrestrial TV comes in the Silver Trophy Handicap over 6f and Roundhay Park and Golden Duke are both winners over this distance with the former also being a winner at this track.

In the last race of the afternoon at Ripon in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap Lakota Blue was a big eye-catcher over 5f at Glorious Goodwood and now back up to 6f over a C&D he has a great record over, he should go close.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand - Newbury

Tom Marquand has four rides at Newbury on ITV this weekend and we think most of them have chances and he looks the man to follow.

His first runner of the afternoon is his best chance of the day with Klondike a big player in the Group Three Geoffrey Freer Stakes.

In the Highclere Castle Gin Handicap over 5f Marquand jumps on Desperate Hero who was a a good runner two starts ago in the Racing League and getting back to that form gives him a chance.

The Class 2 Handicap over 7f sees him jump on Alpha Capture who needs to bounce back to form but can do off a mark of 85.

Finally in the feature Group Two Hungerford Stakes, Marquand rides New Endeavour for Roger Varian who looks underestimated in the market.
