Who To Follow On Day Three Of Royal Ascot

Horse To Follow - Lord Campari

The final runner from us on day three comes in the Class 2 Buckingham Palace Stakes over seven furlongs and Lord Campari for Roger Varian looks very overpriced.

The son of Kingman is impressively bred, costing 350,000 Guineas as a yearling and having been tried over a mile and slightly struggling, the drop to 7f looks a smart move.

He was seen once as a juvenile in 2019 and finished in behind the likes of Palace Pier and Finest Sound, when learning a lot for the experience.

Back as a three year old he got off the mark at the first time of asking on good to soft at Newbury, but after that slightly struggled in better races.

Back this season, he was last seen in the Group On Lockinge Stakes when finishing a fair sixth behind Palace Pier again and now back into a handicap he could be a big player.

Trainer To Follow - Roger Varian

Roger Varian could be set for a superb day of things at Royal Ascot on Thursday with numerous big chances across the card and the handler is also running to a high standard of form.

The big chance of the day comes in the Hampton Court Stakes with Movin Time with the yard thinking very highly about this horse.

Other chances for Varian look to be Raadobarg and Dinoo in the Britannia Stakes and also Lord Campari, in the Buckingham Palace Stakes, dropping back from a Group One to a Handicap.

Jockey To Follow - Frankie Dettori

The jockey to follow on Thursday is no other than the superb Frankie Dettori, who has already managed to get himself in the winners enclosure this week and can do so again on the third day.

His big chance of the day is obviously Stradivarius with the pair of them looking to team up and land the horses fourth straight victory in the race.

Another big chance for Dettori on the day comes for the same owners in the Ribblesdale Stakes with Gloria Mundi, who looks a big improver.

The master rider has been in fine form at Ascot over the last 12 months managing to land 10 winners and 12 places from 48 rides which sees him pose a 21% strike rate.
