Although it has been less than a week since the Cheltenham festival it is still all we can think about and today's throwback is all about the 2021 Gold Cup.
The week at Cheltenham was all about Rachel Blackmore and rightly so for the six winners she had, but the Gold Cup was all about Jack Kennedy and the superb ride he gave Minella Indo, which was actually a spare ride for the youngster.
With Delta Work not heading over to England it left Kennedy without a ride in the Pinnacle race at the meeting and with Rachel Blackmore jumping off Minella Indo for A Plus Tard, it left Henry De Bromhead with options.
He went with Jack Kennedy and it was a superb decision with him riding the gelding prominently and when kicking for home was not for catching up the hill.
The two horses for De Bromhead, in a week that he saw his horses run to the best of their ability, were superb and battled it out to the line with dual winner Al Boum Photo in behind them.
Minella Indo is now a dual Cheltenham festival winner, taking the Albert Bartlett and now the Gold Cup, with also a second in the RSA Novices' Chase last term.
