ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 21st March

Three cards are being broadcast live on ITV racing on Saturday 21st March, with Graded action coming from Newbury, being supported by a competitive card from Kelso and a handicap hurdle from Bangor. With 10 live races on offer, we've gone through all the televised races to pick out our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Hollygrove Cha Cha 5/2

The clear class angle in the field and looks ready for this step up to 3 miles. Got back to form on deep ground when reverted back to hurdles at Warwick last time out, powering home late. Seems to have the stamina for move to 3 miles and can assert her dominance over this average looking field.

Kocktail Bleu 6/5

Arrives here with the best form, having gone close to winning on all of his last 3 starts, finishing runner up each time. Notably when coming 2nd in the Grade Two Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle last time out. Two miles certainly looks his trip and this more galloping course looks like it will suit more than Kempton. A replication of his last effort will see him get off the mark over hurdles here.

Baratablet 9/1

Finished last season with a handicap hurdle win over 2.5 miles and picked up where he left off with another win at Newcastle over the same trip on seasonal return in December. Didn’t seem to stay an extended trip at Kelso and was outpaced back down in trip at Newcastle last time out. Moves back to his optimal trip and a handicap mark of 119 looks more than workable in this company.

Red Oak 10/1

Looks a shade overpriced for this contest, if you’re willing to forgive him pulling up at Kelso last time out, his previous form has strong substance to it, coming a close 2nd to Kosac d’Oudairies who came 2nd in the Grade Two Kelso Novice Hurdle. Looks versatile for ground, has some of the best form in this field and dips his toe into handicap company for the first time off a very workable looking mark of 122. Sean Bowen is an eye-catching jockey booking.

Khrisma 13/8

Didn’t have to improve when winning a handicap at Market Rasen last time out, just doing enough to get the better of Charisma Cat. Rates as the best in the this field and a handicap mark of 128 is well within her scope. Likely to rate better than her current mark and should be taking this with a bit in hand.

Scarface 15/2

Comes into this in slightly worse form than most of his rivals here but has begun to fall to an attractive looking handicap mark and looks well treated compared to old rival Heltenham who heads the market. This Tizzard trained 9 year old is now just 3lbs higher in the weights than for his last win and gets his ideal drying ground for this contest. Well treated on his best form.

Diamond Dealer 7/2

Has transitioned to fences well for the Skeltons, winning his first two handicap chases this season over 3 miles here at Kelso and Cheptsow. Can be forgiven for not staying in the Scottish Borders National and was unlucky not to win at Wetherby last time out. Drops back slightly in trip now but is in solid form and still progressing in this sphere. Can rate better than his current mark of 120.

Pismo Beach 25/1

Might well have won this race last season if she had not been hampered by a faller, she stayed on well from the back to be 3rd off a mark of 105. She lines up 12 months later more experienced and only 5lbs higher in the weights and with the ground drying in her favour. A 7lbs claimer takes over in the saddle and she could well outrun her big odds in this race 2 years running.

In The Age 10/3

Looks like he will appreciate this slight drop in trip and the return to slightly quicker ground after being outstayed over 2.5 miles on soft ground at Uttoxeter last time out. Only 3lbs higher in the weights than for that effort and is only having his 5th run over hurdles. Still relatively unexposed and looks to have his ideal set up.

Keltype 12/1

Absolutely demolished a 10 runner bumper at Chepstow from the front when last seen, making all the running and leaving his rivals behind easily by 15 lengths. It’s hard to assess just how strong the form is but on paper it looks one of the standout pieces of form here. The in form Ben Jones takes the ride.
