The majority of our research for our Day Two tips for Cheltenham Festival is done and dusted the week before the Festival. It compromises of three main elements:
As Cheltenham week draws closer, we'll analyse the starting fields and weigh up each runner's chance against the odds allocated by the bookmaker. With Cheltenham racing being up there with the most competitive every season, it's possible to make an argument for literally every single runner in the field.
That means our first step for our Day Two tips is working out an approximate price for each horse based on our opinion and experience. This allows us to discount horses we think are priced too short, for example because of the weather or weak recent form.
From there, we select a tip for each race. Our strongest tips are placed into our main bets - these are usually a NAP of the day, our best outsider tip and a Lucky 15 tip. Depending on the odds of the horses we like, we may have slightly different tips.
Whatever we pick, each tip will be posted the day before Day Two - so on the Tuesday evening.
What to expect from Cheltenham Festival Day Two?
Wednesday kicks off with The Cup - no longer sponsored by Coral, it'll still likely be referred to as the Coral Cup for a long time.
Two Novice races - the Turners and the Brown Advisory - allow the horses of the future to showcase their potential, before the old hands take to the stage for the Cross Country Chase. This is always one of the great spectacles for spectators who can cross into the middle of the course to watch it.
4pm brings the feature race of the day. The Champion Chase, over just two miles, showcases the fastest sprinters.
The day finishes with the Grand Annual Chase and the Champion Bumper; both big fields which often provide opportunities to price a big priced winner or placed horse.
