Gaelic Warrior to Take His Chance in Ryanair Chase

Gaelic Warrior has been named among the runners for next week's Ryanair Chase after the final stage of confirmations.

Last year's Arkle winner is one of three from the Willie Mullins yard, with Fact To File and Energumene also entered.

Gaelic Warrior will be on a recovery mission at Cheltenham after disappointing on his last two starts.

The seven-year-old was last seen finishing third in the G1 Dublin Chase, and was 14 lengths behind Solness.

Runners Will Depend on Ground Conditions

Gaelic Warrior will step up in trip to compete in the Ryanair, but the distance shouldn't be an issue, as he has previous winning experience over two miles and three after landing the G1 Faugheen Novices' Chase in December 2023.

Drying ground conditions will still create doubt about the pecking order at Cheltenham, as Fact To File may not be most effective on good ground.

The JP McManus runner also still holds an entry for the Gold Cup, while Banbridge appears set to take his chance in the feature of the week after being omitted from the Ryanair Chase confirmations.

Defending Champion Remains in Contention

Protektorat and Il Est Francais also remain in contention for the Ryanair Chase next week, with both among the confirmations.

Henry De Bromhead's 2023 Ryanair winner, Envoi Allen also remains in contention, while the Irish trainer will also saddle Jungle Boogie, who was very impressive on his latest appearance at Ascot.

Venetia Williams' Djelo and Heartwood are also among the intended runners at this stage, with declarations being announced on Tuesday.
