Varzi 10/11

The only horse lining up here with experience is the Karl Burke trained Varzi. A pleasing debut 95 days ago saw him come 2nd to the subsequent 4th in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. Given some time from debut, he should use his racecourse experience to get off the mark at the second time of asking.

Guinelot 11/2

Improved for racing to win at the third time of asking in a maiden last time out. The forms worked out well with the 2nd coming out and winning since. Gets a nice looking opening handicap mark of 71 and can find more success in this sphere.

Luna Celeste 2/1

In good form for Tom Clover and improved for aggressive tactics at Nottingham last time out when winning. Upped 6lbs in the weights and shifted up in grade here but has found a nice looking opportunity and can dictate this from the front under Danny Tudhope.

A Boy Named Susie 4/11

Doesn’t represent much value but sets a strong standard in this field having come 2nd to Constitution River in the Coral Eclipse. Hasn’t got his head in front since debut but is rated 12lbs clear of the field and gets Oisin Murphy booked in the saddle.

Royal Fixation 4/1

Got the better of America Queen in the Lowther Stakes last season and has slowly been coming to hand this campaign off her two outings. Shaped with more promise last time out at York and should be fully primed for a big run.

Brazilian Diva 12/1

Took four attempts to get off the mark but made a step up after that to go close in a listed contest over C+D behind Carry The Flag. One of the more exposed runners in the field but has been in consistent form since getting her head in front and eases back in grade now. The form of her listed effort here looks strong and repeat effort sees her go close.

Jez Bomb 5/1 L15

Goes well at this venue, having won over a mile here in June and backing that up when upped in trip last time out. Has been raised another 7lbs in the weights but is in fine form and rarely puts a foot wrong here.

Harry’s Hill 9/2

Went well over C+D last time out to be a close 2nd and has only been raised 2lbs in the weights for the effort. Enjoys rattling fast ground and this venue and with connections opting for a 5lbs claimer in the saddle he looks nicely treated to go close again.

Baker Blue 8/1

Ran well behind Badri here from the front last month and wasn’t disgraced at Glorious Goodwood to be 6th of this mark. Eases into slightly calmer waters here and looks like he’ll get a relatively easy lead. Handicapped to play a hand again if managing to bag the lead and the rail from stall 6.

Campeona 2/1

Has been in fine form in staying races as of late and looks to have gotten away lightly with just a 2lbs rise for her recent win at Lingfield. Jumps up in grade here but stays well, looks nicely handicapped and carries a nice low 8st8lbs for this.

Havana Rum 8/1

Has a solid course record here, finishing placed in 4 of his 6 runs at Pontefract. Has been in good form of late and lines up here 2lbs lower than his last placed effort at York last month. Looks nicely handicapped and likes this track.
