Another success story from Seven Barrows, Ben Pauling was assistant to horse racing legend Nicky Henderson for six years before starting his own horse racing training team in 2013. Since that time, he’s been successful in every year that he’s been working as a professional trainer, taking the expert horse racing advice he gained through closely shadowing Nicky Henderson.

He was once aspiring to be a professional jockey before an accident involving barbed wire permanently damaged his right eye, ruining any chance of being allowed to ride ever again. There’s always a lot of praise for Ben Pauling, who wasn’t able to reach his full potential as a professional jockey due to the unfortunate accident, meaning that he had to put the work in and effectively learn his trade from the ground up.

Most recently, Ben Pauling was announced as National Hunt Ambassador for horse racing focused bookmaker Black Type, where he was once again hailed for being one of the most talented and promising rising stars in UK horse racing after achieving so much debut success as a trainer at just thirty-two years of age.

Jump racing success has come from the Ben Pauling Stables ever since it opened for work in 2013, Raven’s Tower winning three times from ten runs, and both Malibu Sun and Cosway Spirit winning two runs each in the 2013/14 season. Malibu Sun continued this sort of form into the following season with another three wins, while Newton Thistle, Smart Freddy, Ergo Sum and Ballyhenry all took two wins each. The biggest winner from that year was Barters Hill, who achieved an impressive record of four wins from four runs, continuing that record into 2016 with a further three wins from four runs, making it one of the greatest success stories from Ben Pauling Racing.

Other major success stories include Le Breuil, Two Swallows, High Bridge, Delire D’Estruval, and Willoughby Court, who won the Grade One Neptune Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival among other notable victories. Through the Cheltenham win alone, Ben Pauling was able to prove his worth off his own back, leading to lots of punters keeping tabs on any horses currently at Ben Pauling stables, as they’ve shown a solid record for finishing first or at very least placing.

Capitalising on their ability to get the best out of horses in jump races, Ben Pauling horses in training who’ve gone on to take plenty of memorable wins also include Silvergrove, Showboater, A Hare Breath, Local Show, Cyrius Moriviere, Treaty Girl, Newton Geronimo, Raven’s Tower, Kidisart, Global Citizen, Markov, Equus Secretus, Salix and Oskar Denarius.

The Ben Pauling Racing Team is based at Bourton-On-The-Water in Gloucestershire, where the facilities are praised for being some of the best in the country when it comes to horse racing, with a view to training the next big winner. With more than twenty-five active members of the Ben Pauling Racing Team, they’re one of the largest and most open to developing talent in the sport of horse racing. Key jockeys include Nico De Boinville, Daryl Jacob, David Bass, and amateur jockey Aaron Rid.
