A Goodwood Cup swansong awaits Stardivarius, who bids for a 5th win in the race.

What's interesting here is that the troubled passage encountered by Stradivarius when finishing 3rd in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, has led owner Bjorn Nielsen to return to Andrea Atzeni, who partnered Stradivarius to his first 2 Goodwood Cup wins.

He re-opposes old foe, and new star, Kyprios, who got the run on him in last month's Gold Cup, and although the younger and most progressive in the field, Aidan O'Brien's colt does have a point to prove in getting the better of Stradivarius with a clearer run.

Alan King's Trueshan also remains set to run at this late stage and may just take his chance if racing upon genuinely good ground, this comes following an unbelievable Northumberland Plate victory when giving away 19lbs to his field.

An interesting proposition, however all eyes will be firmly fixed on Stradivarius.

Trainer To Follow - William Haggas

William Haggas is 22% round Goodwood across the last 5 seasons and actually shows a positive P/L at the track across his 123 runners.

The Newmarket based trainer has 2 favourites on the day, the first in the form of high class filly Sacred who is currently heading the Lennox Stakes market ahead of Richard Hannon's Lusail - she's expected to relish the return to 7f on the back of her promising seasonal re-appearance run in the Platinum Jubilee.

Haggas also leads proceedings in the final race of the day via his 3YO filly Kidwah who is looking to take advantage of a drop back in grade on his second handicap start - Haggas' Goodwood strike rate improves to 25% with 3YO runners.

Jockey To Follow - Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore was top jockey at Royal Ascot and has been in top form across many of the big races this season.

He has a strong booking of rides according to the market on opening day at Glorious Goodwood, boasting the saddle of 3 current race favourites on the day.

The stand out of his rides lies in the hands of Kyprios in the Goodwood Cup, who will look to confirm placings when re-opposing Stradivarius.

Crystal Caprice and Kimngrace hold leading claims in the final 2 races on the day, whilst a definite case can be made for Richard Hannon's Supreme King in the maiden at 16:45, although the draw could've been kinder.
