The first selection of the afternoon from Sandown comes in the Listed Dragon Stakes over 5f and with a host of talented youngsters heading to post with all different types of form lines, it makes it a tough betting heat.

The horse we have sided with is the George Scott trained Rocket Rodney who is a two year old on the up that looks the most likely winner in this field off the back of his Royal Ascot run.

Seen three times in his career to date, making his debut over 5f at Nottingham he was a good second behind a nice type for Richard Fahey, but then franked the form to get off the mark at the second time of asking at Goodwood, seeing off his closest rival by over four lengths.

Sent to Royal Ascot last time out in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes he took the highly promising Little Big Bear all the way to the line just going down by a head. That sets the form standard for us.

Trainer To Follow - Andrew Balding

Andrew Balding sends a strong team of runners to Sandown on Friday which makes him the man to follow at the Esher track.

In the opening race of the day he fields Bakeel who is looking to bounce back to form after his disappointing fifth in the Group Two Norfolk Stakes.

Balding can go close again in the Listed Coral Marathon with Royal Ascot winner Coltrane looking to keep his exceptional run of form going this term.

The Newmarket handler will be hoping Stormbuster can break his maiden tag in the Novice Stakes and then in the Listed Gala Stakes watch Foxes Tales bounce back to form.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand

Tom Marquand is one of the best riders in the UK at the moment riding winners up and down the country for William Haggas and other trainers when he can and at Sandown on Friday he has a nice book of rides.

His first ride of the day comes on talented hurdler Not So Sleepy who runs again on the flat and is looking to go better than his last effort at Royal Ascot.

In the Class 3 Handicap, Marquand rides Golden Voice who has a leading chance if being able to harbour a hike in the weights and then in the Listed Gala Stakes he teams up again with his old mate Addeybb, who is miles clear of the field on ratings.
