Cyrname

Today we are taking a look back at the 2019 renewal of the Grade Two 1965 Chase at Ascot with the race set to be a cracker this weekend.

Cyrname has been a horse for Paul Nicholls over the years that has shown serious ability but also been very consistent throwing in very poor performances.

However, rated the best jumps horse in Europe at one point in his career off the back of his win in this race he is a horse that will always be remembered.

Winning races like the Grade One Ascot Chase, Grade Two Charlie Hall Chase and this event, he did go on to have a special career.

His win in this event was arguably his greatest performance during his career, being the first horse to beat the mighty Altior over obstacles, but it probably did both bottom both horses as they never returned to the same ability.
