Rose Of Lancaster Stakes Guide

1. Wissahickon

Trainer - John Gosden

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

Wissahickon is a very talented four year old who absolutely smashed up the all weather scene at the start of the year winning three out of his four races.

He took two Listed contests and the Group 3 Winter Derby Stakes with ease but was beaten by Matterhorn in the Middle Distance All Weather Championships race which was a huge shock.

He has not been seen since that day but looks to wanting to make a revival on the turf where he also has some smart form especially when last seen back in September taking the 33 runner Cambridgeshire Handicap Stakes.

Big Player with Dettori on board.

2. Addeybb

Trainer - William Haggas

Jockey - Richard Kingscote

This five year old is a very frustrating horse to follow but last time out gave a good performance and if he rain comes on Saturday should be in the mix.

He landed the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot two starts back and finished a good second in the Group 2 York Stakes last time out which makes him a player off that form.

As said, rain is a big factor for this horse and if he gets it he will be hard to overlook.

3. Lunar Jet

Trainer - John Mackie

Jockey - Jimmy Quinn

The John Mackie trained Lunar Jet is having a quick turn around racing in this one only recently running at Glorious Goodwood in the first contest of the five day meeting.

He finished third last that day and will be looking to get back on track here with this gelding being another horse looking for the rain to pour as his best performances have come in tricky conditions.

4. Wadilsafa

Trainer - Owen Burrows

Jockey - Chris Hayes

This four year old is a very talented colt who unfortunately has not performed to the standard we all know he can this season and will need to bounce back here.

As a three year old Wadilsafa won three of his four races including a good Listed event at Sandown, however this season he has not been the same horse finishing last of eight on his seasonal debut at Ascot.

He then went to York and finished a better second in soft conditions which could be the key for the colt and then on his last outing he was poor again but in a good Group 2 at Ascot and might come on for that run.

5. Pondus

Trainer - James Fanshawe

Jockey - Daniel Muscutt

This three year old has raced five times this season and only made his debut back in April and looks to be a very progressive youngster that gets a nice weight allowance off the older horses.

In his five runs he has won two of them on soft and good ground showing he is a versatile character and last time out he finished a smart second behind a progressive three year older.

Needs to step up a lot to be involved.

6. Raise You

Trainer - Andrew Balding

Jockey - Oisin Murphy

Raise You is another horse who is on the verge of becoming a really smart horse but throws in some bad performances in the big races.

He has raced three times this season winning his first two in nice style the second of those in a Listed Stakes at Newmarket where the third place has since gone on to win.

He stepped up to the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club over in France last time out and couldn't keep up with the pace and back in to a Group 3 makes him a player.

7. Surrey Thunder

Trainer - Joseph Tuite

Jockey - Harry Bentley

The final runner of the contest is one of the outsiders of the field who has been racing in Germany for the last few races of his career in Group 1 contests.

He finished fifth of 15 runners in the Group 1 Deutsches Derby at Hamburg which is a hard run to track with the racing over there being a bit below the standard in Britain and overall he looks opposable.
